NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT PREVENTION MONTH
APRIL 2023
WHEREAS, child abuse and neglect are a complex and ongoing problem in our
society,affecting thousands of children and their families in the State
of Arizona; and
WHEREAS, every child is entitled to be loved,cared for,nurtured,feel secure and
be free from verbal, sexual, emotional and physical abuse, and
neglect; and
WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of every adult who comes in contact with a
child to protect that child's inalienable right to a safe and nurturing
childhood; and further, it is a legal responsibility for every adult to
report child abuse and neglect; and
WHEREAS, effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of
partnerships among families, social service agencies, schools,
religious and civic organizations, law enforcement agencies and the
business community; and
WHEREAS, all citizens,community agencies,faith organizations,and businesses
should work to increase their efforts to support families.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Chip Wilson,by virtue of the authority vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona, do hereby proclaim the month of
April 2023 as
CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT PREVENTION
MONTH
