"RED RIBBON WEEK"
OCTOBER 23, 2023 - OCTOBER 31, 2023
WHEREAS, the Red Ribbon Week theme `Be Kind to Your Mind,
Live Drug Free", promotes family and individual
responsibilities for Iiving healthy; and
WHEREAS, substance abuse is particularly damaging to one of our
most valuable resources, our children, and is a
contributing factor in the three leading causes of death
for teenagers — accidents, homicides, and suicides; and
WHEREAS, schools and communities pledge to set guidelines to help
children and youth grow up safe, healthy and drug free;
and
WHEREAS, October 23 —31,2023 has been designated National Red
Ribbon week, calling on all Americans to show their
support for a drug-free state by wearing a red ribbon and
participating in drug-free activities during that week.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Chip Wilson, the Mayor of the City of Apache
Junction, Arizona, do hereby proclaim the week of October 23-31, 2023, as
"RED RIBBON WEEK"
