NATIONAL ALZHEIMER'S AWARENESS MONTH
NOVEMBER, 2023
WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction recognizes the importance of
Alzheimer's and related dementia care; and
WHEREAS, Alzheimer's and related dementias have a significant impact on the
health and well-being of our residents. More than 261,000 Arizonans
provide 511,000,000 hours in unpaid care to their loved ones living with
Alzheimer's and related dementia; and
WHEREAS, more than 150,000 Arizonans live with Alzheimer's, which is the 41
leading cause of death in the state. Arizona has the fastest growth
rate for Alzheimer's and related dementia in the country and public
awareness is critically important; and
WHEREAS, Arizonans are actively engaged in educating about the disease,
advocating for a proper continuum of care, and improving the
training and care of patients with Alzheimer's disease and related
dementias; and
WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction supports an Arizona without
Alzheimer's and related dementia, addressing this public health
crisis.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Walter"Chip" Wilson, Mayor of the City of Apache Junction,
Arizona, do hereby proclaim the month of November 2023 as
NATIONAL ALZHEIMER'S AWARENESS MONTH
