IN MEMORIAM
Sergeant Andrew Southard
WHEREAS, Tonight we recognize a fallen soldier and Arizona resident
Sergeant Andrew Southard of the U.S Army Special Forces,
Elite 1 b0th Special Operations Aviation Regiment who was one
of the casualties in the November 10' helicopter crash during a
training mission in the Mediterranean Sea; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Southard was from the City of Apache Junction, a
graduate of Apache Junction High School; and
WHEREAS, it is essential that we remember all those from our past, present,
and future for their bravery and sacrifice for the cost of
privilege and freedom; and
WHEREAS, we honor and show our respect to the Southard Family and
those families and friends who were and are victims of this
tragedy; and
WHEREAS, in the words of Minot Savage — "The brave die never, though
they sleep in dust: Their courage nerves a thousand living
men."
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Chip Wilson, Mayor of the City of Apache Junction,
Arizona, do hereby express our appreciation for Sergeant Andrew Southard's years
of dedicated service to the United States, and our prayers and condolences to his
family.
