HomeMy WebLinkAbout11_2022 National American Indian Heritage MonthProclamation NATIONAL AMERICAN INDIAN HERITAGE MONTH NOVEMBER, 2022 WHEREAS, this month is an opportunity to gain a greater knowledge of Native Americans and honor all indigenous Peoples on Planet Earth; and WHEREAS, in Arizona, twenty-two federally recognized Tribal Nations have inhabited these lands continuously, prevailed against untold hardships and uphold their traditions; the contributions of American Indians have enhanced the freedom, prosperity and greatness of America today; and WHEREAS, their customs and traditions are respected and celebrated as part of a rich legacy throughout the United States; and WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction celebrates the positive and significant relations between our nearest neighbors, The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, The Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, and The Gila River Indian Community, and we welcome more social and cultural interactions; and WHEREAS, in honor of National American Indian Heritage Month, I encourage everyone to explore the origin narratives, artwork, intricate family bonds and to understand the ancient, living values of the Arizona Tribal Nations. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Walter “Chip” Wilson, Mayor of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona, do hereby proclaim the month of November 2022 NATIONAL AMERICAN INDIAN HERITAGE MONTH Signed and attested to this ________ day of _____________________, 2022.
