A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF
A DUI ABATEMENT GRANT FROM THE GOVERNOR' S OFFICE OF
HIGHWAY SAFETY.
WHEREAS, the Governor' s Office of Highway Safety ("GOHS")
sought proposals from state and local agencies for highway
safety projects with a submittal deadline of April 11, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction ("City") , through its
police department ("AJPD") , on April 7, 2025 submitted a DUI
Abatement project to be considered for funding in the form of a
reimbursable grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration through the GOHS; and
WHEREAS, on June 11, 2025, the GOHS awarded the grant
request to AJPD.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the mayor and city
council of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona, as follows :
SECTION I :
The GOHS DUI Abatement grant in the amount of $20, 000 . 00 is
accepted and staff is authorized to implement its conditions .
SECTION II :
The chief of police or his designee is appointed the agent for
the City of Apache Junction, to conduct all negotiations and to
execute and submit all documents and any other necessary
instruments in connection with such grant .
SECTION III :
The chief of police or his designee is authorized to take any
and all actions necessary to ensure all activities set forth in
the application are fully completed, including but not limited
to any and all reporting obligations .
