HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 25-25 RESOLUTION NO. 25-25 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, FOR SUBMISSION OF GRANT- FUNDED PROJECTS FOR CONSIDERATION IN ARIZONA' S 2026 HIGHWAY SAFETY PLAN. WHEREAS, the Governor' s Office of Highway Safety ("GOHS") sought proposals from state and local agencies for highway safety projects with a submittal deadline of March 7, 2025; and WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction ("City") , through its police department ("AJPD") , on March 6, 2025, submitted projects to be considered for funding in the form of reimbursable grants from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration; and WHEREAS, on August 11, 2025, the GOHS awarded the grant request to AJPD. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the mayor and city council of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona, as follows : SECTION I : Staff' s request to advance the following projects in the GOHS 2026 Highway Traffic Safety grant program is so authorized: a) Police Traffic Services (PTS-003) $25, 000 . 00 - STEP Overtime b) Impaired Driving Program (AL-003) $25, 000 . 00 - DUI Overtime c) Occupant Protection (OP-001) $5, 000 . 00 - Occupant Protection Overtime d) Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety (405g-001) $5, 000 . 00 - Pedestrian and Bicycle Enforcement Total: $60, 000 . 00 RESOLUTION NO. 25-25 PAGE 1 OF 2 SECTION II : The chief of police or his designee is appointed the agent for the City, to conduct all negotiations and to execute and submit all documents and any other necessary instruments in connection with such grant projects. SECTION III • The chief of police or his designee is authorized to take any and all actions necessary to implement and complete the activities submitted in the applications.
