Apache Junction, Arizona REGULAR MEETING January 26, 1981 A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Parks and Recreation Commission was held on January 26, 1981 at 7:00 P.M., at the Apache Junction City Hall Complex, pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. PRESENT: Lois Broman, Chairman Raymond Foisy Gerald Bright Ronald Staples Harvey Long STAFF PRESENT: GUEST: ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES: OLD BUSINESS: ABSENT: Phil Richardson, Vice-chairman Dede Scheff, Secretary Thomas Farrell Margaret Carlin Jeff Bell, Community Service Sharon Seder, Community Service Heddy Hall The meeting was called to order by Lois Broman at 7:10 P.M. A motion was made by Harvey Long to accept the agenda, and was seconded by Raymond Foisy. Motion carried unanimously. A motion was made by Ronald Staples to accept the minutes of the December 22 meeting as presented, and seconded by Gerald Bright.Motion carried unanimously. Jeff Bell brought the Commission up to date on what the Community Service Department had in the way of recreational programs. During the coordinator's comments, it was suggested contacting the newspapers and adding Recreation News each week.The public would be aware each week of what recreational programs were offered. Discussion was held on fund raising for a swimming pool and the necessity of having a pool in the Apache Junction area. A recreation plan was discussed and priorities were set as follows: CHILDREN ADULTS SENIOR CITIZENS playground jogging/bike track basketball courts picnic tables bar-b-que grills restroom facilities archery range SWIMMING pool rodeo arena wading pond ramadas ball fields civic center fountain horse shoe pits shuffle board volleyball (sand) jogging/bike track basketball courts picnic tables bar-b-que grills restroom facilities archery range FUTURE LONG RANGE PLAN swimming pool rodeo arena handball court racquetball court ramadas outdoor shoot range tennis courts amphitheathre civic center ball fields golf course (regular/mini) driving range fountain horseshoe pits shuffleboard jogging/bike track picnic tables bar-b-que grills restroom facilities archery range swimming pool rodeo arena handball court racquetball court ramadas ourdoor shoot range tennis courts amphitheathre civic center ball fields golf. course (regular/mini) driving range fountain The NOW plans were plans which could be a reality at the present with little cost involved.The future long range plans are plans which would take several years in the planning and creating. There was board discussion on how to let the public know what the plans included, what the City was doing in the way of services, and what the public could do to help besides the news media. There being no new business to discuss, a motion was made by Harvey Long to adjourn which was seconded by Gerald Bright.The meeting adjourned at 9:20 P.M. APPROVED: Chairman 1 Seci.etary
