HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981 02.09 PRC MinutesCITY OF APACHE JUNCTION PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION 1001 North Idaho Road Apache Junction,Arizona SPECIAL MEETING February 9,1981 A special meeting of the Apache Junction Parks and Recreation Commission was held on February 9,1981 at 7:00 P.M.at the Apache Junction City Hall Complex pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. PRESENT:ABSENT: Lois Broman DeDe Scheff Raymond Foisy Ronald Staples Ha-vey Long Margaret Carlin Staff Present: Jeff Bell,Community Service Coordinator Sharon Seder,Community Service Dept. Others: Pat Theeke Phil Richardson Gerald Bright Thomas Farrell Lois Broman,Chairman,opened the meeting by turning discussion over to DeDe Scheff.Ms.Scheff lead the discussion on the Baby Debut and Open Horse Show being held on April 11,1981. The ensuing discussion contained the following:donations could be gathered from the community for ribbons prizes,and judges.In return for the donations,an ad for each sponsorship could be read during the horse show announcements.Concessionaires could be charged $25.00 per booth.At least $1,500 could be netted from the horse show with all proceeds going to the swimming pool fund. Harvey Long made a motion to have the Baby Debut and Open Horse Show on April 11,1981,with Ronald Staples seconding the motion.Motion carried unanimously. Ms.Pat Theeke suggested that entry blanks for events be mailed,with personal contact to be made for concession stands. A City water truck was requested for that day to be used at the P &M arena located on Meridian and Brown Rds.Mr. Foisy is to check on a P.A.system to be used. Each commissioner is to make contact with businessmen reference sponsoring an event in the horse show.News releases are to go out immediately so the show will have plenty of publicity. MIS APPROVED: CHAIRMAN SECRETARY A suggestion to have a model swimming pool in the form of a fish bowl on hand at the show so donations could be made to the swimming pool fund. Harvey Long made a motion to adjourn with Mr.Raymond Foisy seconding the motion.Motion carried unanimously.
