HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984 05.03 PRC Minutes135 CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION 1001 North Idaho Road Apache Junction,Arizona 85220 SPECIAL MEETING May 3,1984 A special meeting of the Apache Junction Parks and Recreation Commission was held on May 3,1984 at 7:00 p.m.at the Apache Junction City Hall pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. PRESENT ABSENT Michael Carden,Chairman Janice Palson Redena Bilotti Jennie Bennett Suzanne Bartell Chuck Heermans,Vice -Chairman Lois Broman,Secretary Ted Millspaugh (Excused) STAFF PRESENT:Jeff Bell,Community Services Superintendent Phyllis Wolfe,Secretary CALL TO ORDER:Michael Carden,Chairman,called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:Michael Carden,Chairman,led the Commission in the pledge of allegiance. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA:Janice Palson,made a motion to accept the agenda as presented.Suzanne Bartell seconded the motion which passed unanimously. INTRODUCTION AND DISCUSSION WITH TALENT BANK APPLICANTS: DISCUSSION ON ONE-TIME BUDGET OVERRIDE: Michael Carden,Chairman,introduced Talent Bank Applicants,James Appler and Jack Rivers to the Commission.After the applicants gave a brief introduction of themselves and ex- pressed their interest in serving on the Com- mission,Jeff Bell informed the Commission, due to the resignation of Jennie Bennett, there are now two openings on the Parks and Recreation Commission. Mr.Carden told Mr.Appler and Mr.Rivers that Staff would be in touch once a decision was made by the City Council. The Commission held a lengthy discussion with represenatives from the Library Board,Little League,and A.J.Youth Soccer League.Jeff Bell suggested the possibility of A.J.News donating a full page advertisement.Staff was asked to get a voters registration list from the county. Michael Carden,Chairman,asked the Friends c of A.J.Library and The A.J.Youth Soccer Leagues i f they would be willing to help sol- icit votes by phone using voters registration lists. 137 P &R Commission Special Meeting 5/3/84 Page 2 ADJOURNMENT: Representatives from the Library Board said they would look into setting up information booths at the various plazas.General ques- tions were asked and discussed by the Com- mission. There being no further business,Janice Palson made a motion to adjourn.Redena Bilotti seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
