1. Call to Order
Chair Frank Schoenbeck called the regular meeting of the City of Apache Junction Parks and
Recreation Commission to order at 6:OOpm.
2. Pledge of Allegiance
Chair Frank Schoenbeck led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. Roll Call
Present 6- Chairperson Schoenbeck,Vice Chair Moeller,Commissioner Borey,
Commissioner Kyhn, Commissioner Moore, and Commissioner Bigelow

Liz Langenbach, Parks and Recreation Director
Jamie Sullivan, Recreation Superintendent
Riley King, Management Analyst
4. Consent Agenda
Vice Chair Heather Moeller moved that the Parks and Recreation Commission accept the agenda
as presented and approved the minutes from the June 7i 2023 regular meeting. Commissioner
Terralle Moore:seconded the motion. This was approved.

23-362 . Consideration of approval of agenda.
23-363 Consideration of approval of regular meeting minutes of June 7; 2023.
5. Information and Reports
Commission members shared their positive experience and attendance at events such as the
Fourth of July Fireworks and the Prehistoric Party. Additionally, Commissioner Sheryl Bigelow
shared her experience and appreciation of the Senior Services programming at the
multi-generational center.

6. 23-364 Presentation and discussion on projects and opportunities in the parks and
other service areas.
Parks and Recreation Director Liz Langenbach shared information about the public art
installation at Dutchman Dog Park, an update on Prospector Park restroom improvements, and
the concept of a Code of Conduct for park/facility users.
7. 23-365 Presentation, discussion and update,on upcoming events and activities.
Recreation Superintendent, Jamie Sullivan, presented-photos of recent activities and events and
gave an update on the increased aquatic center hours and extension of the pool season to
Labor Day weekend. She also shared.information about the newly.created and implemented
program, Prehistoric Party, and.the overwhelmingly positive attendance.

8. 23-417 Presentation and discussion of final_draft of the Parks and Recreation
Strategic Plan
Management Analyst Riley King covered the updates made to the Parks and Recreation
Strategic Plan and recorded all comments/suggested edits to be brought back in final form for
commission approval-at their September meeting.
New Business
9. 23-368 Update on Superstition Vistas development.
Director Langenbach shared the newly released website and video showcasing the Blossom
Rock development at Superstition Vistas and the plans for the South District parks: Painted Sky
Park, Ironwood Linear Park, and Ridgeline Linear Park.
10. Call to Public
None.
11. Call for Future Agenda Items
Chair Frank Schoenbeck requested an update on Tree City USA,. Director Langenbach shared
that the strategic plan,the parks code of conduct, and an update on the Veteran's Memorial
Park.sign would all be shared at the next meeting.

12. 23-369 Regular Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission to be held at 6:00
p.m. on September 6, 2023 in the city council chambers located at 300 E.
