1: Call to Order.
Chair.Frank Schoenbeck called the regular meeting of the-:City of Apache Junction Parks and
Recreation Commission'to order at 6:020m.

Chair Frank Schoenbeck led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Director Liz Langenbach shared that.Dave.Butler was promoted to the Parks Superintendent
position and reviewed the overseeding schedule for parks.

Recreation Superintendent Jamie Sullivan reviewed the previous months events and activities.
She also shared upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
23-547 Presentation and.discussion on the recap of the Aquatic Center's 2023
summer programming, presented by Recreation Coordinator,.Elliott

Recreation Coordinator Elliott Anuta shared a recap:of the aquatics season programming and
events.
7. Old Business
23-548 Update on the purchase of the 20 acre Rodeo Event Center property from
Bureau of Land Management and discussion on next steps to update the
2006 Master Plan.

Director Liz Langenbach shared information about the upcoming.Rodeo Event Center
celebration and that the department will-be working with J2 Engineering and Design to update
the master plan. Stakeholder meetings will be held as a part of that process.
23-549 Update on Superstition Vistas and the progress of public parks in the
Blossom Rock portion of the master planned development.

Director Liz Langenbach gave an overview of the Superstition Vistas Master Plan and an
update on the first public park that is targeted for an April.2024 opening.
8. New Business
23-550 Presentation and discussion on the work of the Public Arts Commission and
upcoming art in parks and public spaces.
Director Liz Langenbach shared the progress of the.Public Art Commission(PAC) in selecting
future temporary art installations.The PAC decided at their previous meetings to focus on
various wall and window art work. Director Langenbach encourage commission members to
visit the PAC website or past meetings to learn more about what this group is doing.:.

Chair Frank Schoenbeck would like to see an update on the status of our Tree City USA
application. Director Langenbach also shared that newly appointed commission members
would be introduced at the November meeting.
11. Selection of Meeting Dates, Times, Location and Purpose
23-551 Regular Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission to be held at
6:00 p.m. on November 1, 2023 in the city council chambers located at
300 E. Superstition Boulevard.
Commissioner Diele Kyhn moved,seconded by Commissioner Terralle Moore that the regular
session of the Parks and Recreation Commission be held November 1,2023 at 6:00 p.m.in the
city council chambers located at 300 E.Superstition Boulevard,Apache Junction.This was
approved.
