Sponsors:Liz Langenbach 9.Call to Public Arizona Open Meeting Law allows individuals to address Commission on any issue within the jurisdiction of the Commission. Commission may not answer your questions or discuss your comments at this time. However, at the conclusion of Call to the Public, Commission may do any of the following: 1) respond to criticism made by any individual who addresses the Commission; 2) ask staff to review a matter; 3) ask staff to place the matter on a future agenda. Commission shall not discuss or take legal action on matters raised at Call to the Public unless the matters have been properly noticed for discussion and legal action. Please stand, approach the podium microphone and state your name and address after being called to speak. There is a three (3) minute time limit per speaker. 10.Call for Future Agenda Items At this time Parks and Recreation commissioners or Parks and Recreation staff members are given the opportunity to suggest a topic or topics to be added to the next or any subsequent agenda of the Parks and Recreation Commission. Chair Frank Schoenbeck called the regular meeting of the City of Apache Junction Parks and Recreation Commission to order at 6:02pm. Pledge of Allegiance2. Vice Chair Heather Moeller moved that the Parks and Recreation Commission accept the agenda as presented and approve the minutes from the September 6,2023 regular meeting. Director Liz Langenbach shared that Dave Butler was promoted to the Parks Superintendent position and reviewed the overseeding schedule for parks. 23-546 Presentation, discussion and update on upcoming events and activities. Recreation Superintendent Jamie Sullivan reviewed the previous months events and activities. She also shared upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. 23-547 Presentation and discussion on the recap of the Aquatic Center's 2023 summer programming, presented by Recreation Coordinator, Elliott Anuta. Recreation Coordinator Elliott Anuta shared a recap of the aquatics season programming and events. Old Business7. 23-548 Update on the purchase of the 20 acre Rodeo Event Center property from Bureau of Land Management and discussion on next steps to update the 2006 Master Plan. BLM LEASED PP AND RODEO Rodeo Event Celebration1 Attachments: Director Liz Langenbach shared information about the upcoming Rodeo Event Center celebration and that the department will be working with J2 Engineering and Design to update the master plan. Stakeholder meetings will be held as a part of that process. 23-549 Update on Superstition Vistas and the progress of public parks in the Blossom Rock portion of the master planned development. Superstition Vistas Update to P&R Commission 10042023Attachments: Director Liz Langenbach gave an overview of the Superstition Vistas Master Plan and an update on the first public park that is targeted for an April 2024 opening. New Business8. 23-550 Presentation and discussion on the work of the Public Arts Commission and upcoming art in parks and public spaces. Director Liz Langenbach shared the progress of the Public Art Commission (PAC) in selecting future temporary art installations. The PAC decided at their previous meetings to focus on various wall and window art work. Director Langenbach encourage commission members to visit the PAC website or past meetings to learn more about what this group is doing. Call to Public9. None Call for Future Agenda Items10. Superstition Boulevard, Apache Junction. This was approved.
