HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990 09.04 Library MinutesTrustees Junction CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES 1177 N.Idaho Road Regular Meeting September 4,1990 A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board was held September 4,1990 at 6:00 p.m.at the Apache Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call -- Present Lovett,James Selvy,Cindy McFair,Karen Gordon,Barbara Staff:Pamela Loui,Library Director Others present:Robert Alger Josephine Campbell 1.Acceptance of Agenda: 2.Acceptance of Minutes for June 5,1990 Regular Meeting: 3.Acceptance of Minutes for June 29,1990 Special Meeting: 4.Librarian's Report: 5.Old Business: Absent Webb,Mary Ann Palmer,Randy J. of Motion was made by Barbara Gordon and seconded by Karen McFair to accept the agenda. Summer reading program is completed.Attendance was good. a.Update on budget request for 1990/91:If more cuts are requested, service will have to be cut. I City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting September 4,1990 Page 2 b.Review of talent bank applications: 6.New Business: a.Election of officers: President,Vice President & Secretary: b.Request for review of circulation policy: c.Discussion on need for Display policy: Robert Alger and Josephine Campbell attended the Board meeting.Both expressed interest in becoming a Board member.Cindy Selvy made a motion and Barbara Gordon seconded i t to have Robert and Josephine recommended for appointment to the Board. Motion passed. Barbara Gordon made a motion and Karen McFair seconded i t to postpone election of new officers to next meeting. Reviewed complaint of Mrs. Rose Gay that business owners should have free library cards even i f they reside in Maricopa County.Pam discussed Casa Grande's policy and Mesa's policy.Barbara Gordon made a motion to change the policy so that business owners,employees &school students are eligible for free library service.Motion was seconded by Karen McFair. Motion passed. Display policy must be "content neutral."Policies may specify what groups may use the facilities for displays.Pam suggested i t not become a public forum.
