A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of
Trustees was held October 2,1990 at 6:00 p.m.at the Apache Junction
Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law.

a.Update on budget request for
1990/91:
None
Motion was made by Cindy
Selvy and seconded by
Josephine Campbell to accept
the agenda.Motion passed.
Motion was made by Cindy
Selvy and seconded by James
Lovett.Motion passed.
Pamela Loui gave Librarian's
report.There will be story
hours beginning in October for
toddlers and pre-schoolers.
$13,160 was cut from library
budget.More cuts possible in
January.

Motion was made by Josephine
Campbell and seconded by Cindy
Selvy to nominate James Lovett
for President.Roll Call vote
taken.Motion passed.
Motion was made by James
Lovett and seconded by Mary
Ann Webb to nominate Cindy
Selvy for Vice President.
Motion passed by a roll call
vote.
Motion was made by Cindy Selvy
and seconded by James Lovett
to nominate Mary Ann Webb for
Secretary.Motion passed by a
roll call vote.
Scheduled for Thursday,
October 25,1990 at 6:00 p.m.
to be included in Library
Board Work Session.
Library Director distributed
copies of the proposed
ordinance amending library
policies as directed by the
Board.She stated that
Council action on this item
was scheduled for the October
16,1990 City Council meeting.

Neither Kathy Connelly nor
David Alexander were able to
attend the meeting to present
information on Open Meeting
Law.A summary of the law
written by Kathy Connelly,
City Clerk,was given to the
Board Members.
Pamela Loui presented indiv-
idual packets to each Board
member.She went over the
introduction and each section
of it.Each member who did
not already have one received
a copy of Arizona Public
Libraries:A Handbook for
Trustees.A video was shown
that explained duties of
Library Board members.
Board members were given a
printed self -guided tour and
encouraged to become familiar
with the different library
