HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991 07.02 Library MinutesCITY OF APACHE JUNCTION LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES 1177 N.Idaho Road Regular Meeting July 2,1991 A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees was held July 2,1991 at 6:00 p.m.at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call -- Present Absent Alger,Robert Lovett,James McFair,Karen Campbell,Josephine Staff:Pamela Loui,Library Director 1.Acceptance of Agenda: 2.Acceptance of Minutes for May 7,1991 Regular Meeting: 3.Acceptance of Minutes for June 25,1991 Special Meeting: 4.Librarian's Report: Webb,Mary Ann Selvy,Cindy Motion was made by Robert Alger and seconded by Josephine Campbell to accept the agenda.Motion passed. During the month of May,Liz Burks visited the schools to promote participation in the Summer Reading Program. Several schools toured the library."Keys to Kindergarten"program was held.In June,the Summer Reading Program started.So far almost 600 children have City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting July 2,1991 Page 2 signed up.There have been a large number of participants attending all Summer Reading Program events.Three films shown.345 people attended. The library received some gift subscriptions to magazines. Motion was made by Robert Alger and seconded by Josephine Campbell to accept the Librarian's report. 5.Old Business: a.Budget update:Tentative adoption of City Budget will be on July 16. b.Update on status of Pinal County Library District Budget:There was no new information available on the County Library District Budget. 6.New Business: a.Review of talent bank applications:Postponed until August. b.Election of secretary: c.Discussion on the benefits and responsibilities of membership in the East Valley Information Network (EVIN)and approval of Apache Junction Public Library formally joining the network: James Lovett nominated Karen McFair.Robert seconded the nomination.Roll call vote taken.Motion passed. Spencer Paden,Assistant Library Director,presented the Board with information on City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting July 2,1991 Page 3 benefits and responsibilities of membership in the East Valley Information Network (EVIN).Reciprocal borrowing was reviewed by staff.Robert Alger made a motion to approve Apache Junction Public Library membership as a Contributing Member of EVIN.Josephine Campbell seconded the motion. Roll Call vote taken.Passed unanimously. 6.Call to the Public:None present. 7.Requests for future agenda items:Review of talent bank applications.
