Idaho Road Regular Meeting May 5, 1992 A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Trustees was held May 5, 1992 at 6:00 p.m. at the Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call -- Present Alger, Robert Connolly, Cheryl Selvy, Cindy Rineholt, Pamela Staff:Pamela Loui, Library Director 1. Acceptance of Agenda: 2. Acceptance of Minutes for April 7, 1992 Regular Meeting: 3. Librarian's Report: Absent Library Board of Apache Junction Campbell, Josephine McFair, Karen Motion was made by Robert Alger and seconded by Pamela Rineholt to accept the agenda. Motion passed. Motion was made by Robert Alger and seconded by Pamela Rineholt to accept the minutes for the April 7, 1992 meeting.Motion passed. Statistics for first four months of this year showed an increase of 3,000 more items circulated and 6,000 more patron visits than last year for same time period. Eight story hours were held with 135 in attendance. There were four tours, National Library Week Puppet Show and a reference count was done. Summer Reading Program will run for six weeks starting June 1. This summer the library at SMES will be kept open four days a week for children unable to get to our library. Meet library staff member: b. Service First policy: Nothing has been officially acted on.A draft of the plan was available. Bob Alger renewed two magazine subscriptions for the library and also subscribed to two more. He is contacting Ed Hill of Abco for a donation to the library for subscriptions. The City Manager's recommendtion for the library includes additional staff person, increase in the book budget, increase in the periodicals budget, a catalog with large screen, a closed caption television, and an increase in AV budget to purchase more closed caption video cassettes. Personal contact is important. Library Board members should meet with the City Council.Home Rule is very important.The budget would be cut drastically if it does not pass. Gail Graham was introduced.She explained her duties as circulation clerk.In addition to circulation tasks she is responsible for book repairs and processing. A copy of the library's Service First policy was passed out to the Board members.The library is always highly complimented on the service staff gives to the community. Adjournment: Secretary There have been complaints by patrons due to lack of seating in the library.By moving paperback collection and newspapers to lobby, seating could be moved back into the library.Motion was made by Robert Alger and seconded by Pamela Rineholt.Motion passed by a roll call vote. None present. Follow up with Council members. Talent Bank applications. Set date for Special Meeting to adopt annual report. Motion was made by Robert Alger and seconded by Pamela Rineholt to adjourn.Meeting adjourned at 6:58.
