Idaho Road Regular Meeting June 2, 1992 A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees was held June 2, 1992 at 6:00 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call -- Present Alger, Robert Campbell, Josephine Connolly, Cheryl McFair, Karen Staff:Pamela Loui, Library Director 1. Acceptance of Agenda: 2. Acceptance of minutes for May 5, 1992 Regular Meeting: 3. Librarian's Report: 4. Old Business: a. Meet library staff member: Absent Selvy, Cindy Rineholt, Pamela Motion was made by Josephine Campbell and seconded by Cheryl Connolly to accept the agenda. Motion passed. Motion was made by Cheryl Connolly and seconded by Karen McFair to accept the minutes of the May 5,1992 meeting.Motion passed. C -plus was converted to a Network version this month so statistics are estimates.High circulation for the month.Most programs dealt with the schools.There were four school visits by Liz with an attendance of 2,475, "Keys to Kindergarten" was held, and a Library Team workshop. 107 adults and children attended the first program of the Summer Reading Program on June 2. Status report on capital improvement plan: c.Discussion on budget request for 1992-93: 5.New Business: a. Review of talent bank applicants: b. Discussion on Master Plan for City Complex, including Library: c. Review of ways to keep City Council informed of Library activities: It was recommended at the City Council meeting that a 5,000 sq. ft. addition to the library building be included in capital improvement plan along with the construction of of a building for the police dept. An additional full-time library clerk was recommended which will enable the library to be open fifty hours a week again. Messages were left for two applicants that have been on file since 1991. They never called back showing any interest in becoming a Board member. Jimmy Griffing was interviewed by the Board.Motion was made by Cheryl Connolly and seconded by Josephine Campbell to recommend the appointment of Jimmy Griffing to the Board. Motion passed unanimously. The City hired the same person that built Glendale Public Library to assess the City Complex and come up with a Master Plan before any more buildings are built or expanded, including the library. Motion was made by Josephine Campbell and seconded by Cheryl Connolly to accept the Library Director's recommendations for library expansion in the Master Plan for City Complex. Motion passed by a roll call vote. Cindy Selvy provided a letter and copies of articles about the library for Cheryl Connolly to present to the City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting June 2, 1992 Page 3 d. Adjournment: Board.She recommended that members send copies to the City Council to keep them informed of library activities. Motion was made by Cheryl Connolly and seconded by Josephine Campbell to hold a Special Meeting on June 30 at 5 p.m.Motion passed by a roll call vote. None present Introduction to Literacy services in the library. Lost Dutchman Day parade Motion was made by Cheryl and seconded by Josephine to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 7:00 Center entry.
