Regular Meeting
November 3, 1992
A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of
Trustees was held November 3, 1992 at 6:00 p.m. at the Apache Junction
Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law.

a. Progress report on Lost
Dutchman entry:

Motion was made by Karen McFair
and seconded by Pamela Rineholt
to accept the agenda.
Motion passed.
Motion was made by Jimmy Griffing
and seconded by Pamela Rineholt to
accept the minutes of the September 1,
1992 meeting.Motion passed.
Patron usage of library increased.
Story hours were presented 6 times in
October to 171 people.There were two
tours with a total of 14 people
attending. There has been an increase
in circulation.For more information
see the monthly report for October
1992.
Teen Advisory Board members are
continuing to work on planning
costumes for parade.All looks well.
Cindy Selvy will continue trying to
contact Bob DeBow, Jr. for the use of
his wagon.

a. Presentation by Ab Hameed,
CIAI,Inc. and discussion on
plan for library building
expansion:
b. Discussion on how Home Rule
election may affect the
library:
c. Discussion on the
possibility of the library
obtaining Government
Depository status:
d. Tour of Literacy Center:
Ab Hameed presented how he is
conducting a Needs Assessment Study
for the Library.He will present his
findings to the City Council starting
with a project scope through the year
2010.A final report will include
cost estimates for a multi -phased
project which will include
construction and remodeling.Mr.
Hameed will continue to need input
from Board and plans to report to them
at their monthly meetings until the
study is completed.
Nothing new to report.Information
being gathered.Updates will be
given as new data becomes available.
All the help we can receive by the
Board members and Friends of the
Library in promoting this issue is
needed.
Plans are looking very good for
approval.All things have been
submitted and now we are waiting
for a response.Motion was made by
Cindy Selvy and seconded by Pamela
Rineholt to accept Government
Depository status if chosen.Motion
was passed by a roll call vote.
All Board members present were
given a tour of the Literacy Center
by Bill Murch.He explained how this
center works in teaching people to
become literate.

from Board who has missed more than
three meetings.
Update of Home Rule issue.
Update on the Needs Assessment

progress.
