Regular Meeting
September 7, 1993
A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of
Trustees was held September 7, 1993 at 6:00 p.m. at the Apache Junction
Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law.

orientation session for new
Library Board members:

Motion was made by Jean Namsick
and seconded by Cheryl Connolly
to accept the agenda.
Motion passed.
Motion was made by Cheryl Connolly
and seconded by Richard Morrison
to accept the minutes.
Motion passed.
Statistics compared to a year ago
have gone up substantially.
Additions were made to the monthly
report form.Four films were
shown in August with eighty-five
in attendance.September is
"Library Card Sign-up Month".Any
child applying for or using his/her
library card will be given a ticket
to the "Phoenix Suns Gorilla Show"
which will be held on October 2 at
the high school.
Anytime was fine for both new
members.

b. Discussion on Lost Dutchman
Days parade entry and
selection of two Board
members to serve on joint
committee with FOL and TAB
members:

security measures for the
library:
Cheryl Connolly, Richard Morrison
and President Robert Alger
appointed himself to serve on a
joint committee with members of
FOL and TAB to plan a Lost
Dutchman Days parade entry.
Pamela Loui read through the
by-laws and mentioned some changes
that could be made to them if the
Board felt they were necessary.
Motion was made by Robert Alger
and seconded by Richard Morrison
to nominate Pamela Rineholt for
President.Motion passed by a
roll call vote.
Motion was made by Robert Alger
and seconded by Pamela Rineholt
to nominate Cheryl Connolly for
Vice President.Motion passed
by a roll call vote.
Motion was made by Cheryl Connolly
and seconded by Robert Alger to
nominate Cindy Selvy for Secretary.
Motion passed by a roll call vote.
Members discussed several options
including having a list available
of volunteers that can be phoned
if only one staff member will be
in library, panic button alarm
system (silent alarm) set up
through phone system with police,
asking for police evaluation.

the president appoint Board members
to serve on a study committee.
Richard Morrison, Jean Namsick and
Robert Alger were appointed.
Motion passed.
Several suggestions were made for
checking into viability of machine,
but consensus was not favorable for
outright purchase of such.
None present.

and seconded by Cheryl Connolly
to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at
6:55 p.m.
