Idaho Road Regular Meeting December 6, 1994 A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees was held December 6, 1994 at 6:00 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call Present Absent Alger, Robert Hauck, Jeanette D. Connolly, Cheryl Griffing, Kendra Rineholt, Pamela J. Namsick, Jean A. Staff Pamela Loui, Library Director 1. Acceptance of Agenda: 2. Acceptance of minutes for November 1, 1994 Regular Meeting: 3. Librarian's Report: Motion was made by Jean Namsick and seconded by Kendra Griffing to accept the agenda. Motion passed. Motion was made by Jeanette Hauck and seconded by Jean Namsick to accept the minutes for the November 1, 1994 Regular Meeting.Motion passed. Very active month.Statistics exceeded last year and last month. The library held several programs and participated. in the Health Care Fair at Desert Vista Elementary.A Christmas program is scheduled for December 9th. Library expansion update: Wednesday, December 14th at 4:05 will be Lost Dutchman parade committee meeting. Have progressed.Delay due to fire sprinkler system should be wrapped up soon.Several trades are working now. Stucco is delayed due to rain. b. Report on status of fire protection/ sprinkler system:Sprinlder heads have been installed. May be finished by end of tomorrow. 5. New Business: .a. Review of talent bank application(s): b. Discussion on possible approval to make a LSCA Grant Proposal for an integrated library automation system: John Schoeph expressed some of his areas of interest in the library and gave us his assurance he would be available for monthly meetings. Motion was made by Jean Namsick and seconded by Cheryl Connolly to recommend the City Council appoint John Schoeph to the Library Board. Roll call vote was unanimous in favor. Need an integrated library automation system in order to provide specific information about books at every terminal.Saves staff time by limiting times information must be entered per item.Propose writing LSCA Grant Proposal for $40,000 with local matching finds, possibly in part using the bequest we received a year ago.There are also City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting December 6, 1994 Page 3 the Friends of the Library, City and others who might participate.Have written a letter of intent to see that the State sees this as a viable project.This could provide a dial -in catalog.Phoenix, Mesa and Prescott already have Dynix systems. Motion was made by Kendra Griffing and seconded by Jeanette Hauck to approve submitting the LSCA Grant Proposal. c. Report on the Dynix Library Automation System from Ameritech, Inc.:Dynix products include a number of possibilities to advance service to patrons and to save staff time.They offer follow-up training and support.It also has a module to allow each terminal to access Internet.A later add-on might be the Kids' Catalog. d. Status on security/panic hardware device for employee entrance:Needed quote was received. Requisition has been submitted.They should be installed soon in the children's area and in the staff work MOM. 6. Call to the public:None present 7.
