Idaho Road Regular Meeting May 2, 1995 A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees was held May 2, 1995 at 6:02 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call Present Absent Alger, Robert Hauck, Jeanette D. Connolly, Cheryl Griffing, Kendra Rineholt, Pamela J. Namsick, Jean A. Schoeph, John Staff Pamela Loui, Library Director I. Acceptance of Agenda: 2. Acceptance of minutes for April 4, 1995 Regular Meeting: 3. Librarian's Report: Motion was made by Kendra Griffing and seconded by Jean Namsick to accept the agenda. Motion passed. Motion was made by Jeanette Hauck and seconded by Jean Namsick to accept the minutes for the April 4, 1995 Regular Meeting.Motion passed. Old Business: a. Library expansion update: b. Update of library budget request for 1995/96: 5. New Business: a. Review of proposed policy changes: b. Review of the long range automation plan: A reference survey was completed during income tax week. Several staff members are getting five or ten year pins at City Council meeting tonight. We have received certificate of occupancy.The public is pleased. No date has been set for open house yet due to delay in shelving for old section. Will meet with Curtis Shook on June 6th for the first time.May discuss budget at that time. Changes have been made to wording as well as intent in several policies as per printed pages.Board needs copies of updated policy manual when available. Motion to accept changes in policies as presented was made by Cheryl Connolly and seconded by Jeanette Hauck. Motion passed unanimous with a roll call vote. Spencer is currently working on the local area network for the Library.He is also pushing forward the Library's Internet connection through ASU.An LSCA Title I grant has been written for an integrated library automation system, but even if filly funded, not all components will be implemented in the beginning. Report by Elizabeth Burks, Youth Services Librarian, on the library's summer program: Connection to Pinal County's wide area network has been explored, but at this time pursuing the ASU tie-in to the Internet, and becoming the city's central information provider have a higher priority. We are already doing a home page through EVIN.Provision of online services to the public is possible, but costs will be a determining factor for what can be offered.We already provide public access to other local systems through EVIN and the ASU Connection. Virtual reality and similar concepts are part of the futuristic goal meant to encompass all new developments as they arise. This summer's reading program is called Pandamonium at the Library.It is similar to past programs.It will run longer. The tabloid will list dates, etc. and includes paw prints for parents to initial time read.Will again have movies and kid events.Opening event is a pog tournament.There will also be an opening day at SMES.Sixth graders and and older are invited to join the Library Team. 6.
