Regular Meeting
March 5, 1996
A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees was held
March 5, 1996 at 6:10 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law.

Motion was made by Robert Alger
and seconded by Pamela Rineholt to
accept the agenda. Motion passed.
Motion was made by Robert Alger
and seconded by Cheryl Connolly to
accept the minutes for the December
5, 1995 Regular Meeting.Motion
passed.
The "food for fines" program went well.
376 cans were collected and $314 in
fines were paid.An additional $64 was
given to the food bank.It will be
considered again next year.The library
is very busy.Patron visits are increasing.
Many special programs took place.The

5. New Business:
a. Introduction of new employee:
library is teaming up with other
organizations such as the schools and
Superstition Mountain Mental Health.
The Poetry Jam was part of "I Love to
Read Week".The -Parent Reading
Program" was a first time effort and
will be tried again.
Derek Monypeny is no longer employed
at the library.A replacement for his
position is being sought.Hopefully it
will be someone with computer skills
because that is the direction we're
taking.
The Public Relations Committee has
assembled brochures to be put in local
businesses.Some have already been
passed out and the committee members
are working on getting more brochures
out.
The Lost Dutchman Days Parade is over
but no one was in attendance to give a
report.We heard it went well.
Three new library employees have been
hired.Sherry Peabody is a Senior
Library Assistant.She will be
supervising the circulation desk and
working in the Learning Lab.Joann
Fischer was hired as a Library Clerk I.
She's working in the mornings.She has
clerical and computer programming
experience.She'll be trained to update
the Internet Home Page among other
things. Margaret Cease was hired as a
Library Clerk I.She'll be working at
City of Apache Junction

the circulation desk, Learning Lab, and
helping Liz.She's been learning a lot, as
her background was clerical, not library.

Budget requests.
8. Adjournment:Motion was made by Pamela Rineholt
and seconded by Cheryl Connolly to
adjourn. Motion passed.Meeting
