September 3, 1996
A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees was held
September 3, 1996 at 6:00 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law.

Motion was made by Barbara Gordon
and seconded by John Schoeph to
accept the agenda. Motion passed.
Motion was made by John Schoeph
and seconded by Jean Namsick to
accept the minutes for the August 6,
1996 Regular Meeting.Motion
passed.
Report shows dip in circulation, but
computer down time may have affected
validity.August is always an
unpredictable month anyway.Patron
visits were similar to last year.
Volunteers are faithful in heat of
summer.There were 57 in attendance
for a Homeschool Workshop.The Open

4. Old Business:
a. Election of officers: President,
Vice President, Secretary:
b. Update of library budget request
for 1996/97:
c. Progress report on integrated
system:
House for Educators may have been
better but for scheduling conflicts.
Motion was made by Jean Namsick and
seconded by Barbara Gardner to
nominate John Schoeph for President.
Motion passed by a roll call vote.
Motion was made by Barbara Gardner
and seconded by John Schoeph to
nominate Pam Rineholt for Vice
President.Motion passed by a roll call
vote.
Motion was made by John Schoeph and
seconded by Pam Rineholt to nominate
Barbara Gardner for Secretary.
Motion passed by a roll call vote.
Only change was tuition reimbursement.
It was put into city pool.One staff
member has already been approved.
Everything else was approved as written.
Spencer Paden and Pam Loui had
scheduled time to review and visit
integrated system sites, but electrical
problems at our own facility have
delayed the trip to other libraries.
Possibility of cooperating with county
on a system, but there are issues to be
worked out.

5. New Business:
a. Discussion on DLAPR sponsored
workshop for Library Board
members:Jack Short will be speaking at a morning
session at the library conference in
Phoenix on December 7.We have
received invitations to attend the
conference free of charge with mileage
and meals reimbursement available.
John, Jean, Barbara and Pam plan to go.
b. Discussion on Food For Fines
program:We had a Food For Fines program last
year to cover fines only.It went well.
Motion as made by Pam Rineholt and
seconded by Jean Namsick to repeat
the program this year effective December
6 through December 23.Motion passed
unanimous with a roll call vote.

Discuss promotional event for teens to
sponsor in the spring (e.g. a treasure
hunt, essay contest, etc.)
Discuss Lost Dutchman Days entry.
Motion was made by Barbara Gardner
and seconded by Pam Rineholt to
adjourn. Motion passed. Meeting
adjourned at 6:39 p.m.
