Regular Meeting
July 1, 1997
A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees was held July 1,
1997 at 6:00 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law.

Motion was made by Cheryl Connolly
and seconded by Millie Little to accept the
agenda.Motion passed unanimously.
Motion was made by Kendra Griffmg and
seconded by Cheryl Connolly to accept the
minutes for the June 3, 1997 Regular
Meeting with corrections made to pages 3
and 6.Amended motion passed
unanimously.
John Schoeph, Millie Little and Pamela Loui
received an Annual Report from Arizona
Community Foundation.Harriet MacIntosh,
Co -President of Arizona Library Friends,
wants to be updated on the Friends of the
Library Endowment Project.Millie will give
her copy of the report to the Friends of the
Library.

Pamela Low passed out a paper on policies
for us to read before our discussion next
meeting.June report shows an increase over
last year.Book additions are on hold for the
new system.Interlibrary Loans continue.
Volunteer hours are substantial.Several
programs have been presented.Some item's
requested for this month's agenda were
postponed until the August meeting due to
the fact not all Board members were going
to be able to attend this meeting.
Some cuts were made in the original budget
request by the City Manager.Secretary
position was cut to half Student staff was
cut as were books and personnel areas of the
budget.Still, some needs are addressed and
the library budget has an increase over last
year.The Council will review the budget
later this month.Budget will be finalized in
August.
A certificate of appreciation was presented
to Cheryl Connolly for her service on the
Library Board.
A motion was made by Cheryl Connolly and
seconded by Kendra Griffing to make
August this year's "Food for Fines" month.
Motion passed unanimously.

Pages 1 - 3 are almost identical to last year's
except for Board members' names.The
copies of the inventory printout are identical
to last year's.An update sheet for items
acquired in the fiscal year follows the
inventory report.On the statistical page,
reference statistics is based on a quarterly
survey.Interlibrary Loan, Borrowers
Registration, Books, Book Collections,
A -V Collection are measured directly.
Circulation statistics dropped slightly in
books, but increased in other areas.Receipts
figures come from finance department.
Expenditures figures come from financial
statement.Next 3 pages are financial
statement.Last 2 pages are activity report.
Motion was made by Cheryl Connolly and
seconded by Millie Little to approve the
Library Board Annual Report as presented.
Motion passed unanimously.
None present.
Friends of the Library funding.
Public relations.
By-laws review (committee?).
Budget.
Coolidge joint meeting request.
Policy changes (committee?).
Correspondence / Communications.
Election of new officers.
Motion was made by Kendra Griffing and
seconded by Cheryl Connolly to adjourn.
Meeting adjourned at 6:52 p.m.
