Idaho Road Regular Meeting October 7, 1997 A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees was held October 7, 1997 at 6:05 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call Present Absent Gardner, Barbara L. Griffing, Kendra Little, Millie Rineholt, Pamela J. Schoeph, John Staff Pamela Loui, Library Director 1. Acceptance of Agenda: 2. Acceptance of minutes for September 2, 1997 Regular Meeting: 3.Librarian's Report: Motion was made by Barbara Gardner and seconded by John Schoeph to accept the agenda. Motion passed. With the correction on item # 2 that "on" become "one", motion was made by Barbara Gardner and seconded by John Schoeph to accept the minutes for the September 2, 1997 Regular Meeting. Motion passed. Four library employees attended DYNIX training in Utah.It involved systems administration, circulation and cataloging.Preinstallation information was confirmed at that time.Tentative date for full system start-up is Nov. 1. New Business: a.Discussion of the U.S. West Foundation Grant Committee Outreach Education Program entitled: Teens N Technology: Patron statistics for September are higher than last year and last month.There has been_no addition of materials. due_ to the changing over to a new system being eminent. Discussion of by-laws and/or appointment of a by-laws review committee was tabled until new members join the board.Motion was made by Kendra Griffing and seconded by Barbara Gardner.It was supported by a iinanimmis roll call vote. Retarding the Coolidge joint meeting, no response has been received. Discussion of library policies and/or appointment of a policies review committee was tabled until new members join the board.Motion was made by John Schoeph and seconded by Barbara Gardner.It was supported by a unanimous roll call vote. Pam Loui discussed the grant which includes an all expenses paid training for City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting October 7, 1997 Page 3 6. Call to the public: 7. Adjournment: -Pc(w )A ,19Ailk(2‘ President 9 two adults and two students.Trained personnel will return to work with senior adults in attaining computer skills.It also includes the acquisition of a server and four rep_urposed computers.The total grant is about $60,000.Library staff applied for the grant through the Friends of the Library organization. Millie_Little.made the motion that the board gratefully and enthusiastically be in favor of the acceptance of the grant.It was seconded by Barbara Gardner.The motion passed with a unanimous roll call vote. None present. Pam Loui reminded the board to review the policies and by-laws for discussion at the next meeting. Lost Dutchman's parade. The internet and censorship. Motion was made by John Schoepf and seconded by Millie Little to adjourn.Meeting adjourned at 6:32 p.m.
