Idaho Road Regular Meeting March 3, 1998 A regular meeting of the Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees was held March 3, 1998 at 6:05 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call Present Absent Griffing, Kendra Nolan, Peter Poteet, Joyce Rineholt, Pamela J. Schoeph, John Staff: Pamela Loui, Library Director 1. Acceptance of Agenda: 2. Acceptance of Minutes for February 3, 1998 Regular Meeting: 3. Correspondence and Communication: 4. Committee Reports: a. Community Relations Committee Gardner, Barbara L. Little, Millie Motion was made by Kendra Griffing and seconded by John Schoeph to accept the agenda.Motion passed unanimously. Motion was made by Peter Nolan and seconded by Joyce Poteet to accept the minutes for the February 3, 1998 Regular Meeting.Motion passed unanimously. None. The committee has not met. New Business: a.Report on the Coolidge joint meeting of interested Library Board and Friends of the Library members within Pinal County Pam Loui discussed the statistical report which combines the statistics from Dynix and Follett.January and February both show a decline in circulation. Patron visits are similar to last year.The literacy and humanities programs continue to bring patrons into the library, as do the storyhours.The library now subscribes to Investor's Business Daily. She thanked those who worked at the City's Lost Dutchman Days booth.The entry into the parade went well. At this time there is a federal Senate Bill and a Arizona House Bill (2456) currently being proposed regarding the interne and access.It has been suggested that no changes be made to the current policy due to pending government action.The Library Channel has been ordered as well as a site license for most stations. Pamela Rineholt reported that there were representatives from various library boards, friends and staff.The discussion was interesting but general.There is an interest in holding future meetings. Apache Junction is slated to host a meeting on Saturday, October 3, 1998 at 10:00 a.m.The Board will ask the City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting March 3, 1998 Page 3 b.Discussion on a short presentation individual Board members can make to community groups about the library c.Report on the US West Technology training in Denver and the plans for classes to be offered to the public in March. 8.Call to the public: 9.Request for future agenda items: 10.Adjournment: Friends if they will provide lunch.AzLa will be November 4-6, 1998.It usually has a meeting for board members every other year.There will be a White House conference in Phoenix on August 6-8, 1998.Contact Pam Loui if you wish to attend. Pam Loui handed out brochures about the library and highlighted a few items that the board members could discuss. In the future we will give brochures to Welcome Wagon to hand out. Karen Rauls reported that a team consisting of two high school students, a senior volunteer and herself attend the Tech Academy the week of February 23. Plans are currently being made for classes on introductory classes for Microsoft Word and the interne.They will be offered at no charge. None present.
