Idaho Road Regular Meeting November 3, 1998 A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache Junction Public Library was held November 3, 1998 at 6:05 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call Present Absent Gardner, Barbara L. Little, Millie Poteet, Joyce Nesser, Teresa Nolan, Peter Rineholt, Pamela Staff: Pamela Loui, Library Director 1. Acceptance of Agenda: 2. Correspondence and Communications: Schoeph, John The question of accepting the agenda was placed before the Board and was accepted by general consent. Received anniversary invitations from Arizona Community Foundation.They are celebrating 20 years of outstanding growth and community service. Librarian's Report: Millie Little reported for the committee. She and Joyce Poteet plan to talk to Pat Brenner (City Information Officer) to get a list of RV Parks and homeowners associations to set up appointments for the first of the year.Will look into Welcome Wagon.May make a slide show to use in community presentations. Janet Rash from US West Foundation has called to inquire about sending the name of our student, Lindsay McCulla, along with the names of other outstanding graduates of the year 2000, to CBS -48 Hours for a possible program. The Book Fair sponsored by Friends Of The Library will be November 25th, November 30th and December 1st through December 5th.Family nights will be held on December 1 g from 5 - 8 p.m. and on December 3"I from 5 - 8 p.m.Brochures are available in advance. Books plus other materials are in excess of the previous year's circulation.Patron visits are substantially higher also. We added a number of books and have been quite active with ordering once again. We are continuing to add audio and visual cassettes and government documents.Getting used to our new acquisition system.Continuing our withdrawal project focusing on weeding out books that are not circulating well and have passed their prime.Inter- library loan requests have stayed even. New Business: a.Teen Advisory Board annual report to the Library Board of Trustees: Programs included story times, tours, adult events (one of which was called What's Up With Wall Street, which FOL sponsored) and 11 computer classes with 44 attendees.There were 8 RIF distributions with 282 in attendance. Our quarterly reference survey was donethe week of October 19 th through 24th. We received 525 questions and were able to complete 489 in the same day they were asked.It was a busy reference and program month. John had reported that we have reached the $5,000.00 goal, according to Pam Loui.He will make a further report at the next meeting. Dana Wolfe of the Teen Advisory Board reported on their activities, including last year's Christmas Program and the Summer Reading Program.There were 1,054 participants.They celebrated Teen Reading Week for the first time. Plans for a Christmas program being offered to children will be finalized next Tuesday.They expect to participate in LDD Parade.Will begin plans for Summer Reading Program after Christmas.
