revenues.The following cuts were made
and are being implemented by the City
Manager:The Library book budget will be
reduced by $15,000.00. This will reduce the
amount of materials we will be able to
purchase this year over last year.Minor
Capital Equipment has been reduced by
$6,000.00. This was originally going to be
used to add new public computers. We have
cancelled a conference that 3 members of
staff were to attend for the automated
computer system that we have. This was a
savings of $2,416.00.Pam has also agreed
not to go to a National Conference this year.
Under Maintenance of Software, we reduced
$13,035.00.We will be waiting until April
to migrate our system so that the costs can
be split between two budget years. We have
reduced library subscriptions by $11,021.00
These include electronic resources like
databases that are renewed on an annual
basis. We were able to add some new
software like Social Issues Research
services, aka SIRS and also a software
program called Novelist.Novelist allows
you to tell it a type of fiction you enjoy and
then will come up with a list of books that fit
that type. The Other Services category was
also reduced by $9, 675.00 as we will delay
implementing a virtual reference service at
this time. The total reduction from the
Library Budget is $57,147.00
