Idaho Road Regular Meeting February 10, 2005 A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache Junction Public Library was held February 10, 2005 at 6:05 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call Present Absent Virginia Foat Michael Klatt Theresa Nesser Joyce Payne Everett Deidiker Lori D'Amico Staff: Pamela Loui, Library Director 1. Acceptance of Agenda: 2. Acceptance of minutes for January 13, 2005 regular Meeting: 3. Call to the Public: Rhonda Jackson The question of accepting the agenda for the February 10, 2005, regular Meeting was placed before the Board.Joyce Payne made a motion to accept the agenda.Theresa Nesser seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. The question of accepting the minutes for •the January 13, 2005, regular Meeting was .placed before the Board. Virginia Foat made a motion to accept the minutes.Joyce Payne seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. Valerie Powell was present and announced that she will start her term as a Library Board member in April. 4. Correspondence and Communications:Michael Klatt read the resignation letter of Virginia Foat effective March 31, 2005. City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting Page 2 5. Librarian's Report: 6. Old Business: a.Update on Library expansion. b.Reconsideration on number of library items patrons can check out at one time, consideration to increase the number of cd's to be checked out, and consideration to increase subject limits. Virginia has enjoyed her time as a Library Board member. Pam notified the Board about the upcoming Library Legislative day which will take place on February 24, 2005.Anyone interested in going, should let Pam know as soon as possible. Pam reviewed statistics for January.Statistics in books has decreased slightly from one year ago. Most other categories have increased from one year ago.Volunteer hours were high.Pam calculated that for the 23 days we were open for the month the hours averaged out to almost 16 hours per day.That would be nearly 2 full-time people in a given day. We are very thankful for the volunteers that we have. We are still in a very preliminary programming phase.So far it has been an interesting experience.The architects may come to talk to the Board at the March or April Board meeting. Staff has requested that Pam ask the Board to reconsider the number of cd'.s'to be checked out at one time and the possibility to increase:subject limits. ,The current number of cd's that can be checked out is three and subject limits are currently set to three.Theresa Nesser made a motion to increase the number of cd's that can be checked out to seven and to allow the limits of subjects to be left to staff discretion. Meet library staff member 8. Request for future agenda items: Welcome to Lori D'Amico.Lori moved here 3 years ago from Illinois. Lori is excited to be here and looks forward to serving on the Library Board. Welcome to Everett Deidiker.Everett has lived here for the past 8 years.He is interested in expanding his involvement in the community and is looking forward to being' a part of the newvexpansion. Meet Jamee Coleman.Jamee is a Library Page.Jamee has been with the library for the past 6 months.She works four days a week and shelves books, handles the book drop, and works at the Circulation desk as needed.She is mostly responsible for the fiction section.Jamee enjoys working here at the Library and is currently attending school at CAC.
