Idaho Road Regular Meeting May 12, 2005 A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache Junction Public Library was held May 12, 2005 at 6:02 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call Present Absent Rhonda Jackson Theresa Nesser Joyce Payne Everett Deidiker Lori D'Amico Valerie Powell Michael Klatt Staff: Pamela Loui, Library Director 1. Acceptance of Agenda: 2. Acceptance of minutes for April 14, 2005 regular Meeting: 3. Call to the Public: 4. Correspondence and Communications: 5. Librarian's Report: The question of accepting the agenda for the May 12, 2005, regular Meeting was placed before the Board and was accepted by general consent. The question of accepting the minutes for the April 14, 2005, regular Meeting was placed before the Board. Everett Deidiker made a motion to accept the minutes.Joyce Payne seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. None. None. Pam congratulated Michael Klatt and Everett Deidiker on their reappointment to the Board.Statistics were reviewed for the monthly report and showed that most categories have increased over one year ago. City of .Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting Page 2 6. Old Business: a.Update on Budget for 2005/2006. 7. New Business: Staff is currently doing an inventory of the collection. Pam provided a handout of the proposed budget for 2005/2006 and has met with the budget committee for the first time.There are no requests for additional staff and increases are reflected in areas such as operating supplies due to purchasing of RFID technology in the new budget year. Additional increases are seen in office supplies.As the use of computers, printing and copying increase, so do the cost of maintenance and supplies for these machines. a. Friends of the Library Report Shirley Dewey is the President of the Friends of the Library.She reported that the past November book sale was very successful.There is $10,000.00 in the Friends savings account and $5,000.00 in the checking account.The Friends group is responsible for funding the entire summer reading program for adults, supplements the summer reading programs for children and teens, and funds the special interest programs for youth.Staffing in the gift shop-.has increased in the past 6 months while gift shop sales have also increased. The March •book sale brought in $3,000.00. b.Meet Library Staff member Meet Annie Holler.Annie is a Library Page who has worked for the Library for 3 V2 years.Annie is responsible for shelving, shelf reading and updating of the web page. Annie trains volunteers and puts together various displays around the Library.Annie also enjoys helping out at the Youth Desk and occasionally participating in Babytime. Adjournment: Richard and Bauer presented three options for the building expansion to the Project Manager from Pinnacle One, who then reported the information to the City Manager.The City Manager is currently considering the options.
