Regular Meeting
June 9, 2005
A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache Junction Public Library
was held June 9, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law.

The .question of accepting the agenda for the
June 9, 2005, regular Meeting was placed
before the Board. Joyce Payne made a
motion to accept the agenda.Theresa
Nesser seconded the motion.All members
present were in favor..
The question of accepting the minutes for
the May 12,2905,_regular Meeting was
placed before the Board. Michael Klatt
made a motion to accept the minutes.Lori
D' Amico seconded the motion. All
members present were in favor.
None.
An official letter of award was received
from the State Library for the Hand in Hand
Early Literacy Grant in the amount of
$25,000.

Meeting to be held on Monday
June 27th at 6:00 p.m.
Statistics were reviewed for' the monthly
report and showed that most categories have
increased over one year ago., New books
and videos have been added to the collection
and children's programs continue with
summertime events.
There are no changes at this time.
A smaller addition option is being reviewed.
The next meeting with the architects has
been scheduled for June 23 rd.Much
depends on the development of the land
south of the freeway.
Meet Spencer Paden.Spencer is the Library
Manager and has been with the City since
1986.He started as an adult services
librarian, then became the Assistant Library
Director.Spencer participated in an
executive loan program for three years
where he set up the City network at MIS.
He then returned to the Library as the
Library Manager.. Spencer currently works
With most all divisions in the library.Some
of Spencer's duties are to keep abreast of
what new technologies are on the horizon.
He strives to continually improve the future
of the library, the computer lab and website.
Spencer is currently working on the
planning for expansion to the Senior Center
and preparing to set up new self check
stations for the Circulation Division.
Pam reminded the Library Board of the
upcoming Special Board Meeting to approve
the Annual Report for 2004/2005.

Discussion on the library building project.

E-mail reminder to patrons 24-48 hours in
advance of due date on materials.

Meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
