6. Old Business:
a.Update and discussion on
library building project.
Pam reviewed statistics for the monthly
report and showed that most categories have
iricreaSedoVer one year ago.
The concept design for the smaller of the
two plans has gone to the Project Manager
for cost estimating.Pam will provide a
report at the next meeting if available.
b.Report and discussion on
software research for e-mail
reminders.Pam reported that Spencer checked with
Dynix about pre -overdue notices by e-mail.
Dynix is the vendor who provides our
Horizon software.Horizon currently has a
capability for sending out overdues by
e-mail, but does not have the capability of
sending out pre -overdue notices via e-mail.
This type of setup is considered custom
programming.Spencer did find out about a
software that has been put out by a company
called Jandi Enterprises Inc.The software is
called "Library Elf" and is initiated by the
individual patron. The patron must give the
company his or her library card number and
pin number so that this information can be
accessed."Library Elf" is currently a free
service and will provide notification before
items are due. Pam further reported that
Spencer has indicated to Dynix our
Library's interest in Dynix developing the
capability of pre -overdue e-mail notification
for possible inclusion in a future software
release.

danee with a dj at the Multigen Center will
draw a crowd of teens. This project will
take some time to put together and Liz will

c.Discussion on contributions
By Pinal County Library District
to the Apache Junction Library.Pam stated that we do receive many benefits
from the Pinal County Library District as an
affiliate, and we should continue being a
part of the County's reciprocal borrowing.
The District will distribute $20,700.00 this
fiscal year to our Library to purchase
materials because we are partners in the
reciprocal borrowing within Pinal County.

Grants -in -Aid money. The county library
districts decide if they will spend that money
at the county library level or disperse it to
the local libraries. Our county district has
always been very good at sharing the money
with the affiliate libraries. This year the
amount we receive will be $1,770.00.The
Pinal County Library District also pays for
the Learnatest database where people can go
online and take sample tests for various
careers and study the GED. We have been in
discussion with the county about picking up
additional databases that they then will make
available to all affiliates in the county.
Everett Deidiker conunented that the Pinal ,
County Library District does offer valuable
resources and our library should continue to
be a participant. The other Board members
voiced similar opinions.No action was
