Regular Meeting
May 11, 2006
A regular meeting of The Board of Trustee's of Apache Junction Public Library
was held May 11, 2006 at 6:05 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law.President Lori D'Amico appointed Terri Parker as acting secretary.

The question of accepting the agenda for the
May 11, 2006, regular Meeting was placed
before the Board.Theresa Nesser made a
motion to accept the agenda.Terri Parker
seconded the motion.All members present
were in favor.

G. Librarian's Report:Pam Loui reported that Richard & Bauer,
the architects for our expansion project,

were being presented with awards by the
Arizona Library Association for three
designs completed on other libraries in the
Valley. Pam also reviewed statistics for the
monthly report and showed that some
categories have increased while some
declined compared to those of one year ago.
Pam and Spencer met and interviewed
contractors. Pam should hear who the
contractor is by next month.
Carpeting should be installed next week.
Alarm devices have been purchased.
Electrical work will be done soon in the
lobby as well as the former Senior Center
space.The soda machine will be moved
inside.
Pam has heard nothing since she has turned
in the budget request.•
Nothing new on this topic. Those who did
not get a chance to see the presentation last
month were offered the opportunity to watch
one of the Computer Technician Assistants
give a brief demonstration of Overdrive
following the meeting.
Meet Anthony Fitzwater.Anthony is a
Computer Technician Assistant here at the
Library.He fixes computers and maintains
the Library website.He has been with the
Library for 8 years.Anthony started as a
,Computer Lab Assistant.

GASP method to redefine

GASP was a presentation Pam attended at
the Public Library Association conference.
GASP stands for Graphics, Ambience, Style
and Presentation.GASP was created
originally in the hospitality industry.The
idea was to get more hospitality concepts
into the library.Pam handed out GASP
worksheets that ask how you would define
your library and would you want to redefine
the library if you could.If Board members
find this interesting they are asked to please
fill out any part of the worksheet they would
like to.What do you see today and what
would you like to see in the future?
Pam requested that the special Board
meeting be set for Monday, June 26, 2006 at
6:00 p.m.Theresa Nesser made a motion to
tentatively hold the special Board meeting
on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 6:00 p.m.
Joyce Payne seconded the motion.All
members present were in favor.
