•June 8, 2006
A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache
Junction Public Library was held June 8, 2006 at 6:05 p.m.
at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law.With the President absent, Vice
President Theresa Nesser conducted the meeting.

1. Update and disCussion
on library building
project.
Meet Mary Joy Zuik.Mary Joy
is a Library Assistant and
has been with the library for
over 8 years working in the
Youth Services Department.
Mary Joy's many duties also
include assisting patrons,
conducting babytime and
decorating of the display
cabinet.
None.

Library received a grant for
a self check -in unit.More
information to come. Pam also
reviewed statistics for the
monthly report and showed
that some categories have
increased while some declined
compared to those of one year
ago.
Two meetings have been held
with the Architects. The team
is trying to work with a
fabricator for our themed
areas to get a price
proposal. Negotiations with
contractor have been
conducted and this will go to
council on June 19-20 for
possible approval. Pam should
know the cost for fabricators
by the next meeting.

2. Update and discussion
on development of
the former Senior
Center space.The former Senior Center
.space is now open to the
public.It has wireless
Internet, lounge areas and
study spaces. We have one
vending machine and are
looking into doing a possible
snack machine.
3. Report on Library Budget
Proposal for Fiscal Year
2006/07.Pam reported that the Council
has approved the Library's
budget request as submitted.
We will be adding a Library
Assistant I, an Account Clerk
and Library Page in October.
4. GASP update and
method to redefine
the library.
5. Confirmation of date
and time in June for
Special Boardmeeting
to discuss and approve
the Library Board
Annual Report.
Pam has requested to postpone
further work on this item
until the Fall when the
Friends of the Library
resumes its meetings.

Monday, June 26 at 6:00 p.m.

7. Proposed changes to
Library Circulation
Procedures.
A request was made to change
the wording on the section in
the Procedures book,
REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A
LIBRARY CARD. Terri Parker
made a motion to add wording
on item #2 after the words
Proof of address, to "if
different from driver's
license or state I.D. such
as.."Janice Stenglein
seconded the motion.The
motion carried with four
members in favor, one opposed
and one abstention.
