Idaho Road Regular Meeting March.8, 2007 A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache Junction Public Library was held March 8, 2007 at 6:35 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call Present Absent Rhonda Jackson Everett Deidiker Pamela Kantowski Theresa Nesser Terri Parker Janice Stenglein Staff: Pamela Loui, Library Director C. Acceptance of Agenda:The question of accepting the agenda for the March 8, 2007 regular Meeting was placed before the Board.Everett Deidiker made a motion to accept the agenda. Rhonda Jackson seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. D. Acceptance of minutes for February 8, 2007 regular meeting:The question of accepting the minutes for the February 8, 2007 regular Meeting was placed before the Board. Janice Stenglein made a motion to accept the minutes. Everett Deidiker seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. Update and discussion on library building project. I. New Business: 2. Meet library staff member. None. None. Pam Loui reminded the Board about the Volunteer Recognition event to be held on March 17th at noon.Please notify her if you are interested in attending. Pam also reviewed the monthly report.Some categories increased in use while some declined compared to those of one year ago. The monthly report now includes a count of customers accessing the Library's wireless network with their personal laptops. Council has approved the construction contract for $4,250,000.There will be a data/phone cabling contract to be sent along with contracts for furniture and fixtures at a later date. Pinnacle One has given Core Construction notice to proceed. The scheduled final completion date is June 2008. Meet Megan Smith. Megan has been with the Library for approximately 1 year working as a Library Page -.Megan's City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting Page 3 3. Teen Advisory Board update. 4. Review of Library Budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2007/2008 and possible vote for recommendation. main duties are shelving books, check -in and check-out services, and data entry. Megan likes to read and enjoys working at the library. Sarah Simeonoff provided an update on what the teens have worked on this past year.The Teen Summer Reading program was entitled "Read Around the World." There were seven Teen Chat Cafés that took place including a Halloween Night. Teens participated in the. Lost Dutchman Parade and assisted with the American Girl's Tea and Friends of the Library book sale. Other events teens participated in were scrapbooking, the spring break "pet rock" event and the ongoing magazine entitled "Teen Pulse."There are approximately 15-20 teens involved in the Teen Advisory Board. Pam has asked for 1.5 FTE additional personnel and increases have been requested in some categories such as books and audio-visual materials.
