Regular Meeting
October 11, 2007
A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache
Junction Public Library was held October 11, 2007 at 6:31
p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law.

The question of accepting the
agenda for the October 11,
2007 regular Meeting was
placed before the Board.
Terri Parker made a motion to
accept the agenda with the
request that item 12. be
moved between items D and E
on the agenda.Pamela
Kantowski seconded the
motion. All members present
were in favor.

on library building
project.
City Attorney Joel Stern
provided handouts and
included a summary of the
Open Meeting and Conflicts
laws for the Library Board.
None.

Pam Loui reported that Tracie
Compton is the new
Supervisory Librarian for
Adult Services.In addition,
staff has moved into the new
workroom in the southwing of
the Library.Pam discussed
the monthly report and stated
that some categories
increased in use while some
declined compared to those of
one year ago.
We now have a certificate of
occupancy for the south wing.
Progress continues with the
parking lot and the new
construction of the building.

Meet Burt Buckborough.Burt
has been with .the library for
5 years.Burt is a Lab
Assistant.He assists
computer users, and teaches
computer classes.Burt is a
part-time employee.He
enjoys the problem solving
and challenges involved in
working in the computer lab.
Pam discussed with the Board
the various forms of
recognition currently
provided to library
employees.'Lois Eldridge
made a motion to draw up a
list of employees who worked
June through September for
the purpose of sending thank
you cards to staff for
working under difficult
conditions.Terri Parker
seconded the motion. All
members present were in
favor.
Pam discussed the rules for
disruptive teens. The Board
President requested that the
security worker check on the
number of teen disruptions
that occur in the library and

teen volunteer who
has contributed the
most time to the
library in a month.
7.Discussion of the
areas in the new/
remodeled library
that are available
for adults.

security plan for
the Library.

provide a report at the next
meeting.
Pam discussed the annual Teen
Advisory Board recognition
event. The Board would like to
find out if anything is being
done to recognize the teens on
a monthly basis. The Library
Director will make inquiries
of the Youth Services
Librarian and either report
back or have the Youth
Services Librarian attend the
next Board meeting.
Pam presented a basic
floprplan to show the various
areas of the expansion that
are designed for the adult
customers.
This item was tabled
for a future Library Board
Meeting.
