2. Discussion on the
feasibility of offering
an etiquette class for
.misbehaving Teens.
3.Discussion on
Recognition for the
teen volunteer who
has contributed the
most time to the
'-library in a month.
Library Security, TJ Watkins,
talked to the Library Board
about teens who misbehave in
the Library.He discussed
the procedure followed for
unruly behavior. TJ also
talked about the policy
tracker used to document
incidents that occur in the
Library. Pam explained that
the new expansion will assist
in addressing issues of noise
by offering noise canceling
headsets and quiet spaces
like the quiet reading and
computer rooms. TJ's presence
in the Library has really
made things much calmer in
the teen area. After a little
discussion the Board members
expressed opinions that the
methods used by Library
Security were adequate at
this time and did not need
any formal action by the
Library Board.
Pam Loui read information
provided by Youth Services
Librarian, Liz Burks on the
teen recognition program.
Library Team and Teen
Advisory Board members are
recognized as part of a group
by the other teens in the
group. Some of the Library

and letters of recommendation
based on performance and sent
to student's principal.
Actively participating Teen
,Advisory Board members are
recognized for each year of
service at the library.
Recognition is received as
follows:
1st year - Certificate of
recognition and TAB t -shirt
with logo.
2nd year - TAB pin
3rd year - $10 Gift
Certificate to Borders Books
4th year - TAB t -shirt with

embroidered.
5th year - 2 movie passes
6th year - Best Buy Gift
Certificate and 2 movie
passes.
Exceptional members have
their names put on the Teen
Advisory Board Plaque upon
graduation out of TAB or when
they leave TAB. TAB members
also receive a letter of
recommendation for employment
or college upon request. The
letter is based upon their
performance as a TAB member.
Liz stated that singling teen
members out individually in
another venue would cause
dissention within the groups
and damage team spirit.
Recognizing a few members
separately would cause -hurt
feelings to those members not
recognized.
