Idaho Road Regular Meeting March 13, 2008 A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache Junction Public.Library was held March 13, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by laW. Roll Call Present Absent Everett Deidiker Janice Stenglein Lois Eldridge Rhonda Jackson Theresa Nesser Terri Parker Pamela Kantowski Staff: Pamela Loui, Library Director Sancie Lee -Brown, Administrative Assistant C. Acceptance of Agenda:The question of accepting the agenda for the March 13, 2008 regular Meeting was placed before the Board.All members present were in . favor. D. Acceptance of minutes for February 14i2008 regular meeting,:The question of accepting the minutes for the February 14, 2008 regular Meeting was placed before the Board. Everett Diediker made a motion to accept the minutes. Terri Parker seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. E. Call to the Public:None. Update and discussion on library building project. None. Pam Loui noted that Library Legislative Day has been tentatively scheduled for Thursday, April 17 th. This event is held at the State Capital.Library issues are presented to Legislators and discussed.Pam will be out of town during this time but will mention this event again at the next Library Board meeting to see if there is interest in attending.Pam discussed the monthly report and stated that books circulated exceeded the number from a year ago. Audio materials declined,but video materials, in-house computer use, and magazines were up compared to one year ago. Pam Loui discussed the progress in the building. Work continues on the Quiet Reading Room and the new staff lounge should be completed by the end of the month.The FOL's used book area is up and running. The Youth area is still being worked on and could be completed in early May. 2. Discussion on creating A time capsule.There was much discussion on what to put in the time capsule.Some ideas were to City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting Page 3 3. Discussion on further recommendations to the City Council for a Future Planned Branch Library South of the Freeway. I. New Budines's: 4.- Meet-library'. Staff.• member. focus on this moment in time and make the time capsule library related only.Ideas for items to put in the capsule were: An Annual Report, a floor plan, pictures of staff and Library Board and all phases of the recent construction.Pam will be checking with the Project Supervisor regarding space limitations for the time capsule and report back to the Board at the next meeting. Discussions continued regarding Branch needs.It was noted that the ultimate space needs for the location should be considered before a branch is built to allow for future growth. Meet John Feldt.John is a Library Computer Technician Assistant.John has been with the Library for 3 years and works part-time. John has been working with computers since 1979 and served in the Air Force.
