Regular Meeting
September 11, 2008
A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache
Junction Public Library was held September 11, 2008 at 6:45
p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law.

C. Acceptance of Agenda:
D. Acceptance of minutes for
August 14,2008 regular
meeting:
The question of accepting the
agenda for the September 11,
2008 regular Meeting was
placed before the Board.
Theresa Nesser made a motion
to accept the agenda. Everett
Deidiker seconded the motion.
All members present were in
favor.

1. Update and discussion
on library building
project.
2. Discussion on creating
a time capsule.
None.
Pam Loui provided a letter of
resignation from Lois
Eldridge to Library Board
President, Terri Parker.
Terri read the letter to all
attendees.
Pam reviewed the monthly
report and stated that there
were increases in circulation
of materials compared to
those of one year ago.
Pam Loui discussed the Grand
Opening to take place on
Monday, September 22'd at 6:00
p.m.The soft opening took
place on September 8th for the
remodeled children's area.
The fish tank has fish and is
being stabilized. The
children's books have all
been moved to the youth area.
Lady Tess and friends will be
here in costume on Friday,
September 26th at 2:00 p.m.
We are currently putting
together items for the time
capsule.Everett has
suggested that the most
recent article from last
weeks paper be added to the
capsule.Pam will be looking
at the 2008 Best Seller and
the Board agreed to add the
movie 'Ratatouille."The
letter from the Teen Advisory

Library.

Board will be ready by the
end of the week and we will
also be adding a floor plan
to the capsule.
Janice Stenglein discussed
the subject of holding
birthday parties at the
Library.She will be talking
to museums in the valley to
see what their process is and
will ask that the topic be
added to the agenda some time
in the future.
Meet Lili Jankowski.Lili is
the Account Clerk.Some of
her duties include yearly
budget preparation, handling
payment of invoices, ordering
of supplies and services and
shipping and receiving of
items.She has been with the
Library for 18 months and has
been in Arizona for 3 years.
Lili was in the military and
moved here from Alaska where
she lived for 23 years. There
she worked .for the State of
Alaska for over 15 years.
Lili enjoys working in the
Library.
The Library Board discussed
modifying the By -Laws for the
Board of Trustees of the
Apache Junction Public

and possible vote on
'setting up an access
through library to
the north Patio area.
Library, Article IV -
.OFFICERS, paragraph 1.
Betause the City Council has
requested that Board and
Commission annual
appointments be moved back to
the end of October, the
Library Board is considering
changing the date for Board
member elections from its
current timeframe of the
first meeting following the
30 th of June. Modification
would read as follows:"At
the regular meeting in
November the Board shall
elect a President, a Vice
president and a Secretary
with a term beginning with
the first regular meeting in
December of that year."
Staff will prepare a written
notice of proposal of the
amendment and mail it to all
Library Board members at
least(5) days prior to the
meeting scheduled for October
9th, 2008
Board members disoussed
possible access through the
library to the north patio.
In order to allow access,
security gates would have to
be added at the door to
prevent loss of materials
upon exiting.The Board
would like to see if they get
questions in the future on
the patio area access from
the public.No further
action is being taken at this
time.
