Idaho Road Regular Meeting October 9, 2008 A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache Junction Public Library was held October 9, 2008 at 6:37 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call Present Absent Everett Deidiker Marie DePalma Rhonda Jackson Theresa Nesser Loretta Nielsen Terri Parker Janice Stenglein Staff: Pamela Loui, Library Director Sancie Lee -Brown, Administrative Assistant C. Acceptance of Agenda: D. Acceptance of minutes for September 11,2008 regular meeting: The question of accepting the agenda for.the October 9, 2008 regular. Meeting-,:was placed. before the Board. Theresa Nesser made: a motion to acept the agenda.. Rhonda Jacks6h'setonded -the -motion. All members present were in favor. Librarian's Report: H. Old Business: 1. Update and discussion on library building project., None. September was National Library Card sign up month with a total of 3,813 participants. Winners of a bike were a 5 year old girl and -12 year old boy. The Library held its grand opening event on September 22.The visitor count for that Monday was 1,435. Other special events were held throughout the week to highlight the new features of the building.On Friday we hosted a queen, a prince, a merchant, and our own Board member Lady Tess representing the Renaissance Faire, to the great delight of children who visited the castle. Pam reviewed the monthly report and stated that there were increases in circulation of materials compared to those of one year ago. The project is mostly completed. The fish tank is now complete.We are still in need of replacement parts for the Step into the Story area and Experience Theater. Rhonda Jackson moved to amend Article IV - Officers for the current By-laws to read as follows."At the first regular meeting after November 1 of each year,. the Board shall elect a President, Vice -President and a Secretary who shall serve one (1) year terms that begin at the first regular meeting of the next month after the election to office." Everett Deidiker seconded the motion. A roll call vote showed all members present,w're.'in:: favor. '•• Meet KarenRauls.• Karen has worked at the Library for 11 years as the Circulation Supervisor.Karen's duties include patron check-in/out, interlibrary loan, material repairs, customer service issues and collections. Nomination and vote for Vice-president to fill office vacated by resigning Board Member. Request for future items: Rhonda Jackson made a motion to change the replacement fee for DVD cases from current charges of $5.00 to $2.00. Everett Deidiker seconded the motion.A roll call vote showed all members present were in favor. Rhonda Jackson volunteered to fill the vacancy ofyic'e - President. Tess Nesser made a motion to nominate Rhonda as Vice-president.Everett Deidiker seconded the motion.
