Idaho Road Regular Meeting December 9, 2010, A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache Junction Public Library was held December 9, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call Present Rhonda Jackson Robert Mayo Theresa Nesser Loretta Nielsen Drew Rappleye Absent Janice Stenglein Dr. Jon Lokensgard Staff: Spencer Paden, Library Manager Sancie Lee -Brown, Administrative Assistant C. Acceptance of Agenda: D. Acceptance of Minutes for October 14, 2010 regular meeting. The question of accepting the agenda for the December 9, 2010 regular Meeting was placed before the Board. Robert Mayo made a motion to accept the agenda.Loretta Nielsen seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. The question of accepting the minutes for the October 14, 2010 regular Meeting was placed before the Board. Robert Mayo made a motion to accept the minutes with the deletion of the word "none" under H. Old Business. Loretta Nielsen seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. Apache Junction Public Library Plan 2010-2015. 2. Update on MediaBank 3. Bylaw modifications I. New Business: 4.Election of Officers. None. None. Spencer Paden reviewed the monthly reports for October and November.Spencer also passed around a copy of an article on employee Cans O'Malley who has written a book that was recently published. Spencer discussed the 2010-15 plan recently prepared. New lighting around the MediaBank has been installed. Bylaw modifications were voted on at the last meeting. All members present agreed that the modifications were acceptable as prepared. Rhonda Jackson requested an interpretation of the by-laws as they pertain to monthly meetings.Spencer will talk to the city attorney and respond back at the next meeting. A recommendation was made to continue this item to the February 2011 meeting so that the Council would have time to approve the changes in the Library Board's bylaws and City o f Apache Junction Library Board o f Trustees Regular Meeting Page 3 5.Meet library staff member enact corresponding modifications necessary i n the City Code.A motion was made by Loretta Nielsen and seconded by Drew Rappleye t o continue the item.A roll call vote was taken and did not pass. A motion was made by Robert Mayo t o nominate Dr.Jon Lokensgard for office of President.Loretta Nielsen seconded the motion.All members present were i n favor however Dr.Lokensgard was not present t o accept the nomination. Rhonda Jackson made a motion t o nominate Robert Mayo t o office o f Vice President. Robert Mayo accepted the nomination.Loretta Nielsen seconded the motion.All members present were i n favor. Robert Mayo made a motion t o nominate Drew Rappleye t o office as Secretary.Rhonda Jackson seconded the motion. All members present were i n favor. Meet Bob Cutler.Bob started out as a volunteer i n the library and has been working i n the library for the past 5 years.He works part-time and assists patrons i n the computer lab i n addition t o helping patrons find library materials.Bob was City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting Page 4 6. Update on Library's JOBS Training Center Grant. 7. Update on FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) Grant previously in the Navy and was also a teacher. Work is currently being done on the website.It is viewable at www.ajjobs.org and is still in the testing phase. The library has been informed that a decision will be made on December 15th regarding this grant. 8. Discussion on communication to Board members on library matters. J. Requests for future agenda items. In addition to the regular Library Board meetings, Spencer will be addressing library matters with the board through the monthly calendar of events and emails when necessary.These emails are for informational purposes only.
