Idaho Road Regular Meeting January 13, 2011, A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache Junction Public Library was held January 13, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. Roll Call Present Dr. Jon Lokensgard Robert Mayo Theresa Nesser Loretta Nielsen Drew Rappleye Janice Stenglein Absent Rhonda Jackson Staff: Spencer Paden, Library Manager Sancie Lee -Brown, Administrative Assistant C. Acceptance of Agenda: D. Acceptance of Minutes for December 9, 2010 regular meeting. The question of accepting the agenda for the January 13, 2011 regular Meeting was placed before the Board. Theresa Nesser made a motion to accept the agenda.Janice Stenglein seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. Correspondence and Communications: G. Librarian's Report: H. Old Business 1. Update on MediaBank 2. Update on FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) Grant. 3. Library Board By -Laws this meeting, all other members present were in favor. None. None. Spencer Paden reviewed the monthly report for December. Spencer provided statistics on MediaBank. Dec. 2010 1,110 items circulated and 106 patrons utilized the service.It was also requested that statistics for MediaBank be added to the monthly report for several months to show usage and circulation. Spencer recently attended training in San Diego and noted that we are the only library in Arizona to receive this grant. A clarification question on holding a meeting once a month was addressed.Spencer indicated that the Attorney, Joel Stern, stated that meetings can occur one time per month but it is not necessary to hold a meeting each month. Tracie Curtis discussed each of the Fun Van team member teachers, including their background and education. The three full time teachers introduced themselves via a short video. Spencer discussed the 2011/12 Service Level Objectives. They are as follows: 1.Create and implement a Self -Check Education Week in order to facilitate customer awareness, satisfaction and service. 2.Create an orientation and process for new interns in the youth services area. 3.Record and post library programs on retirement savings, investment and other financial matters for use on social media sites. 4.Establish and implement a plan that will improve access and browsability of the collection. 5.The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) will create a new teen event to encourage other teens to come to the Library. 6.Update on First Things First Grant.
