Regular Meeting
October 13, 2011
A. Call to Order
A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache
Junction Public Library was held October 13, 2011, at 6:30
p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law. With the President absent, Vice
President Robert Mayo conducted the meeting.

C. Acceptance of Agenda:
D. Acceptance of Minutes for
August 11, 2011 Regular
Meeting.
The question of accepting the
agenda for the October 13,
2011, regular Meeting was
placed before the Board.
Rhonda Jackson made a motion
to accept the agenda.
Loretta Nielsen seconded the
motion. All members present
were in favor.

1. Discussion and possible
vote on Library Board
meeting time change.
I. New Business:
1. Project to promote
public awareness of
library services.
All members present were in
favor.
None.
Spencer announced that Janice
Stenglein has resigned from
the Library Board. Randy
Mullen was appointed to the
Board in her place and will
take office next month. Mr.
Mullen has an IT background
in addition to a Master's in
Education.
Spencer reviewed the monthly
report and discussed -
Openlibrary.org which is a
very large e -library
collection. They have over a
million e -books available and
we are the only library in
Arizona participating.
Board members discussed the
possibility of changing
meeting times.No action
will be taken at this time.
Spencer showed video clips
of the "@ your library"
materials.A motion was made
by Rhonda Jackson to approve
the use of "@ your library"
materials to raise public
awareness. The motion was
seconded by Theresa Nesser.

2. Meet library staff
members.
J. Requests for future agenda
items.
All members present were in
favor.
Meet Megan Sparks. Megan has
been with the library for 5
years as a Library Clerk II.
Megan works at the service
desk and call center.Megan
works full-time and is .
responsible for keeping on
top of the library's social
media communication including
Facebook and Twitter updates.
She works on the children's
web page, the teen space web
page and is currently working
on a local history website at
www.superstitionmountain.info
which includes historical
information about Apache
JunCtion, the surrounding
Superstition Mountain
Wilderness area, and,
archived historical articles
from the Apache Junction
News.The domain for this
site was donated to the
library and is updated on a
weekly basis by Megan.
Sending the monthly report
out with the agenda previous
to the Library Board meeting.
Welcoming the new Board
member.
The election of Officers.
Request an update from County
Librarian Denise Keller.
