Regular Meeting
November 14, 2013
A. Call to Order
A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache
Junction Public Library was held November 14, 2013, at 6:31
p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law.

C. Acceptance of Agenda:
D. Acceptance of Minutes for
October 10, 2013 Regular
Meeting.
The question of accepting the
agenda for the November 14,
2013, regular Meeting was
placed before the Board.
Rhonda Jackson made a motion
to accept the agenda with a
change to move Item 1.1 right
after Item D. Todd Cousins
seconded the motion. All
members present were in
favor.
The question of accepting the
minutes for the October 10,
2013 regular Meeting was
placed before the Board.

1.1 Welcome new Library Board
Member.

G. Librarian's Report:
Rhonda Jackson made a motion
to accept the minutes.
Theresa Nesser seconded the
motion. All members present
were in favor.
Welcome Don Breiland. Don has
lived in Apache Junction for
over 4 years. He is married
with 3 children and works at
SRP.He is looking forward
to volunteering on the
Library Board.
None.
None.
There were no questions
regarding the monthly
reports.
Spencer talked about some of
the grant funded programs at
the library.Our 3d printer
is currently awaiting a part
and our 3 rd van is undergoing
maintenance. Also in the
works is something called the
"Toybrary." The Toybrary will
have learning toys that
parents/children can check
out. Spencer also discussed
the Culture Pass. The Culture
Pass gives library users free
admission for two people at
participating museums and
other organizations. Passes
are available on.a first
come, first served basis;
they will not allow renewals
or holds to be placed on
them. Other limitations
apply. The Superstition

Mountain Museum has been
added to the Culture Pass
Program. We will be
partnering with them and
doing advertising and
displays in the Library.

I. New Business
2.Election of
Officers Rhonda Jackson made a motion
to nominate Randy Mullen for
office of President. Theresa
Nesser seconded the motion.
All members present were in
favor.
3.Monthly Library
Board Meetings.
A motion was made by Todd
Cousins to hold the office of
Vice President. Robert Mayo
seconded the motion. All
members present were in
favor.
Loretta Nielsen made a motion
to nominate Theresa Nesser
for office of Secretary.
Robert Mayo seconded the
motion. All members present
were in favor.
Rhonda Jackson would like to
request that the Library
Board meet at least every
other month. Spencer
discussed that he tries to be
very careful not to waste
Library Board member's time.
The City Attorney has
indicated that if there is
nothing on the agenda except
the Librarian's Report that
there can be no discussion

J. Requests for future
agenda items.
K. Adjournment:
about anything else.Theresa
Nesser commented that the
meetings should be conducted
on an "as needed" basis.
Loretta Nielsen commented
that if there is nothing to
offer then there is no need
to meet but they would like
to continue to be notified.
Robert Mayo commented that
there is no reason to meet
unless something is on the
agenda to discuss. Spencer
mentioned that he hopes that
everyone feels comfortable to
contact staff if they have
something to discuss. Randy
Mullen pointed out that if
meetings were made every
other month that it could
cause potential issues if
there was no quorum for that
meeting pushing it to the
next month. Todd Cousins
commented that he was happy
with the way things have been
going. After hearing Library
Board member comments Rhonda
stated that she is ok with
the consensus to continue on
as we have been doing.
Update on Culture Pass. Angel
Tree.
