February 13, 2014
A. Call to Order
A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache
Junction Public Library was held February 13, 2014, at 6:31
p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law.

C. Acceptance of Agenda:
D. Acceptance of Minutes for
November 14, 2013 Regular
Meeting.
The question of accepting the
agenda for the February 13,
2014, regular Meeting was
placed before the Board. Todd
Cousins made a motion to
accept the agenda. Rhonda
Jackson seconded the motion.
All members present were in
favor.

Spencer passed out
information on the Culture
Pass program. Two free passes
are available to library
cardholders at participating
institutions.
Patrons must bring the pass
to the service desk to be
checked out. They will be
provided with a receipt to
take to the event.
There were various library
programs this month.
Supervisors attended several
HOA meetings to discuss all
the library has to offer.

1. Meet Library
staff member(s)or

2. Sponsorships and
the Library.
Meet Mike Andrews. Mike
started as a Library Page in
January of this year and had
previously been a volunteer
for the library for three
years. Mike is a retired,
special education teacher.
Spencer discussed corporate
sponsorships and the
potential involvement of the
Library Board in an advisory
capacity. Rhonda Jackson made
a motion that the Library
Board inform city management
of their desire to, at a
minimum, provide input in an
advisory capacity to city

Mayo seconded the motion. All
members present were in
favor.
None.
Spencer passed out
information received from
Denise Keller, Pinal County
Library Director on an
upcoming house bill.This
bill will cap the county tax
for the district.
There were no questions
regarding the monthly
reports.
Spencer stated that he has
had the first budget meeting
The city is recovering. There
are no big changes as in past
years.
There are new videos we
created and placed on our
YouTube channel that were
made possible by the Finra
Grant. They are entitled "To
your credit" and "Money
matters."
Spencer also discussed two
new services provided by
Pinal County. They are Hoopla
and Freegal.Hoopla is a
streaming service for
downloading video and music.
Freegal is a database of over
7 million songs including
5000 music videos. Freegal
allows patrons 5 downloads
per week that they can keep.

naming rights or any use of
library assets are being
contractually obligated by
the City.
