August 14, 2014
A. Call to Order
A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache
Junction Public Library was held August 14, 2014, at 6:30
p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law. With the President and Secretary absent,
Vice President Todd Cousins conducted the meeting and
appointed Loretta Nielsen as acting secretary.

The question of accepting the
agenda for the August 14,
2014, regular Meeting was
placed before the Board.
Rhonda Jackson made a motion
to accept the agenda. Robert
Mayo seconded the motion. All
members present were in
favor.
The question of accepting the
minutes for the May 8, 2014
regular Meeting and the June
26, 2014 Special Meeting was
placed before the Board.

Spencer provided an update on
the City's first "Water for
Living" water drive held
during the month of July. The
water drive was a great
success and brought in over
52,000 bottles of water for
those in need here in Apache
Junction.Our local Walmart
was instrumental in
collaborating efforts with
other Walmart locations
around the valley to acquire
the bulk of the water that
was distributed to our local
Food Bank, Genesis Project
and Salvation Army.

Meet Pam Standhart. Pam is
the Supervisory Librarian for
Youth Services. She has been
a Librarian for over 17
years. Pam has a lot of
experience working with youth
and has worked in both Jr.
High libraries and public
libraries.

2. New program ideas for
all ages.Spencer asked the Board if
they had any thoughts on any
new program ideas to be used
at the Library. Todd Cousins
suggested Lego games possibly
tailored to age groups
between 5-9 year olds.
Spencer mentioned that the
Boys and Girls club was also
interested in partnering with
the Library for projects.
Todd Cousins suggested arts
and crafts or maybe a board
game room.Rhonda Jackson
suggested possible programs
about myths and legends or
astronomy.If you think of
anything that would be a
great program for the library
please let Spencer or Sancie
know.
