January 12, 2017
A. Call to Order
A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache
Junction Public Library was held January 12, 2017, at 6:30
p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as
prescribed by law.

Theresa Nesser
Staff: Spencer Paden, Library Director
Joel Stern, City Attorney
Sancie Lee -Brown, Administrative Assistant
C. Acceptance of Agenda:The question of accepting the
agenda for the January 12,
2017, regular Meeting was
placed before the Board.
Robert Mayo made a motion to
accept the agenda. Willie
Howard seconded the motion.
All members present were in
favor.
D. Acceptance of Minutes for
November 10, 2016 Regular
Meeting.The question of accepting the
minutes for the November 10,
2016 Regular Meeting was

1. Presentation by and
discussion with the
City Attorney on
Board members'
responsibilities
under the State Open
Meeting and Conflict
of Interest laws.
Theresa Nesser made a motion
to accept the minutes. Robert
Mayo seconded the motion. All
members present were in
favor.
None.
Spencer discussed a grant
received to add additional
space in the library.The
grant is $35k and will
provide an additional space
in the back area of what is
currently adult stacks in the
North wing.This will allow
the library to hold events in
an enclosed space.
Spencer provided an
opportunity to review the
monthly report. There were no
questions.
None.
City Attorney Joel Stern
provided handouts and
included a summary of the
Open Meeting and Conflict of
Interest laws for the Library
Board.
