Call to Order A regular meeting of The Board of Trustees of Apache Junction Public Library was held November 9, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at the Apache Junction Library pursuant to notice as prescribed by law. With the president absent, vice president Willie Howard conducted the meeting. B. Roll Call Present Absent Braden Biggs Luciano Buzzin Samuel Graves Willie Howard Theresa Nesser Frank Schoenbeck Judy Borey Staff: Spencer Paden, Library Director Sancie Lee -Brown, Administrative Assistant C. Acceptance of Agenda: D. Acceptance of Minutes for October 12, 2017 Regular Meeting. The question of accepting the agenda for the November 9, 2017, regular Meeting was placed before the Board. Theresa Nesser made a motion to accept the agenda and Braden Biggs seconded the motion.All members present were in favor. All members present were in favor. None. Spencer discussed and read the thank you draft letter created to send to the Glenn Perkins Trust. Spencer also mentioned Mayor Serdy who commented at the recent council meeting: "For anyone who has not been in library we truly do best library in the valley." our have the whole Spencer provided an opportunity to review the monthly report. There was one question from Frank Schoenbeck regarding the decline in statistics of magazines this past month. Spencer acknowledged and noted that items like magazines are often accessed electronically.Zinio is our electronic magazine service that is offered to the public and paid for by the state and county library. Theresa Nesser added that the Greater Phoenix Digital Library is also an available source where you can read books electronically.Tracie Curtis discussed the library calendar and the description of events on the back side of the calendar.An upcoming event for December is the Bells of Praise coming December 2 nd at lpm located in City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting Page 3 H. Old Business I. New Business 1. Welcome new Library Board members. 2. Discussion and possible vote on using the donated funds to pay for new RFID security gates and a program room projector for the library. the new program room.Please feel free to share the information with family and friends. None. Welcome to our newest Library Board members, Luciano Buzzin, Braden Biggs and Frank Schoenbeck. Spencer received a $20,000 donation. One set of library security gates has come to an end of life meaning the company they were purchased from will no longer provide maintenance support because the product is too old. Spencer would like to expend a portion of the donated funds for new RFID security gates.There will be enough funds to cover the expense and the remaining funds would be spent on a projector for the new program room.We had originally put aside money from another grant to fund audio/video for the new program room but the cost of an HVAC system was more than budgeted for by our Public Works department and as a result consumed a portion of the budget to be used for City of Apache Junction Library Board of Trustees Regular Meeting Page 4 3. Election of Officers. audio/video equipment. Although we will have shades to block most of the light coming into the room, there will still be some light that will come through. That will require a more substantial projector to accommodate presentations in that room. Braden Biggs asked if the remaining gates were functioning well enough to last.Spencer stated that they currently are both functioning and we were able to get support on the other set of gates.Frank Schoenbeck made a motion to approve funds from the Glenn Perkins estate and other donated funds to pay for new RFID security gates and a program room projector for the Library. Theresa Nesser seconded the motion.All members present were in favor. Samuel Graves made a motion to nominate Willie Howard for office of President.Theresa Nesser seconded the motion. All members present were in favor. Willie Howard accepted the nomination. Theresa Nesser made a motion to nominate Braden Biggs for Vice -President.
