Director Harrison reviewed the quarterly library statistics for June/July through September.

Boardmember Hall requested statistics in a graph style for the future. The unveiling of the
Storywalk at Prospector Park in partnership with Parks and Recreation and an LSTA grant from
the Arizona State Library will begin Friday, December 10th at 10:15am on the north side of
Prospector Park. Sneezy the Snowman is the name of the first book by author, Maureen Wright.
Saturday, December 11th will be a day of holiday merriment, full of activities for the family.
Events include a donkey puppet show/sing along, a gingerbread demonstration with samples.A
performance will take place at noon by the AJ High School Jazz Band. There will also be a
Santa visit in addition to cookie decorating and crafts for teens. The Creation Zone Maker Space
has officially reopened. It includes a 3D printer, digitization station, poster printer,
microfilm/microfiche scanner/reader and soon to be available Cricut Maker. Director Harrison
announced that she will be working with a Public Library consultant who will help us develop and
write a 3-5 year strategic plan. Input will be provided from the community and library
stakeholders to identify service priorities for the library. Toni Garvey, consultant and former
director of the Phoenix Public Library will lead us in this process. We expect to start work on
this project right after the holidays.

I. New Business
1. 21-702 Welcome new library board members.
New members of the Library Board have been appointed to fill vacancies and
will take this time to make introductions to the Library Board. No action is
required.
New board members briefly introduced themselves to the Library Board.
2. 21-703 Election of Officers.
This annual election of officers selects a President, Vice-President and
Secretary for the Library Board. The officer who currently holds a position may
not be re-elected to the same position, but may be nominated and elected for
any other position. Each officer is expected to serve for a one year term.
Vice President Rajski called for a motion to open nominations for Library Board President.
Boardmember Hall made a motion to open nominations. Boardmember Krause seconded the
motion. Vice President Rajski called for a roll call vote. The motion passed with all in favor.Vice
President Rajski called for nominations for president. Boardmember Krause nominated
Boardmember Hall for president. Vice President Rajski called for additional nominations for
president. Boardmember Hall nominated Boardmember Krause for president. Vice President
Rajski called for additional nominations for president. No response. Vice President Rajski asked
for a motion to close nominations. Boardmember Walters made a motion to close nominations
for president. Boardmember Krause seconded the motion.Vice President Rajski called for a roll
call vote on the motion to close nominations. The motion passed with all in favor. Vice President
Rajski called for a motion to approve Boardmember Hall for president. Boardmember Krause
made a motion to approve Boardmember Hall for president. Boardmember Wine seconded the
motion.

vice president. Boardmember Kruser seconded the motion. The motion passed with all in favor.
President Krause called for a motion to open nominations for secretary.
Boardmember Hall made a motion to open nominations for secretary. Boardmember Walters

nominations for secretary. Boardmember Walters nominated Boardmember Wine for secretary.

3. 21-704 Presentation and discussion on Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest Law,
Open Meeting Law, Public Records Law, and Parliamentary Procedure by
City Attorney Joel Stern.
City Attorney Joel Stern provided handouts and included a summary of the Code of Conduct,
Conflicts of Interest, Open Meeting Law, Public Records Law and Parliamentary Procedure for
the Library Board.
4. 2 1-705 Library Standards of Acceptable Behavior policy update.
Discussion and possible vote on updates made to this policy.
Director Harrison discussed updates to the Library Standards of Acceptable Behavior policy.
The updated document is in a more professional format and provides much more detail of
unacceptable behavior and what that looks like in a library setting. Boardmember Wine made a

motion to approve the updates by combining number 4.4 with 4.1 and adding vaping devices to
number 2.12. The policy will also be posted between the book drops at the fish tank entrance
and in the family restroom (in plastic page protectors). President Krause seconded the motion.
All members present were in favor.
J. Requests for Future Agenda Items
Boardmember Walters would like to brainstorm how to get the word out about the library to the
public. President Krause would like to know if there is a way to tag books for AR(accelerated
readers). In addition, she would like to discuss a possible kitten room (for adopting pets), brick
painting to make the brick look like a book, and a"Buddy"dedication area with pictures added
and mod podged. Boardmember Rajski would like to combine efforts with the humane society in
Apache Junction at the library park and possibly read to the pets along with possible adoptions.
Vice President Hall would like to see usage rates for universal class and discuss what we are
doing as far as marketing our patrons, especially those who don't come in to the library.
